PARRY Family History

The Parrys of the Golden Valley, Herefordshire

The image on this page is of the pedigree of the Parrys of the Golden Valley, in Herefordshire. It is a companion image to those on the discussion page for this family and, at the moment, it is here purely to give some form of 'overview', whilst a more accurate and detailed pedigree is compiled.

The pedigree is currently derived from certain 'key' references, eg Llyfr Baglan, Jones "History of Breconshire", and Bradney's "History of Monmouthshire". I know that the family appears in other sources, such as the Heralds Visitations, and that there also exists pedigrees constructed by researchers during the 1800s. Information from those will be added in due course.

However, there are contradictions between some of the sources and items which are known to be in error. The discussion page will cover these and attempt to weigh up the evidence in order, eventually, to produce as accurate a tree as possible.

But no doubt it will always be subject to some revision, as more evidence comes to light.

The initial family is coloured in red because it should be regarded with caution. As yet no contemporary records have been found for Henry ap John and Eva, nor for the fact that John ap Henry and Griffith ap Henry were brothers.

Please note that the pedigree on this page does not follow the 'normal' pattern. Each individual family is shown as a complete group, parents and children together. Arrows then lead to the next generation, where the children of the first generation are shown as the parents, along with their own children. This has been done to make it easier to follow when comparing the individual family entries in the various sources.

If you have any comments about the tree, please contact me.
