Griswold Phelps Progress Report

Naomi GLOVER101 was born on 3 April 1774 in Nottingham West Township, Hillsborough Co., NH.97,102 She was very likely listed in the Federal census with her four sons, in the household of Samuel Hamlet (sic) in 1820 in Masonville, Delaware Co., NY.103 She died on 15 April 1841 at the age of 67 in Hambletville, Delaware Co., NY.104 Naomi was buried at Hambletville Cemetery in Deposit, Delaware Co., NY.104

From Mary Cable's e-mail: “On her tombstone it reads Neoma, wife of Samuel Hamblet died April 15, 1841 aged 68 yrs….” In this same e-mail, Ms. Cable reports that she found a Naomi Hamblet in the early church records, present at the organization of the Third Church of Tompkins on December 17, 1830. Naomi had formerly worshipped in a Deposit church. Samuel, who would be her son, was also a member of the new church in 1830, or in the 1830s. Ms. Cable, in a second e-mail the same day, wrote of Hambletville and of a sketch of the homes of three of the four Hamblet brothers for whom that settlement was named (Samuel, Alfred, Daniel, and Noah).

Webster and Browne, p. 256, list Robert Glover and David Glover [would this be his brother?] among those who fought in the battle at Bunker Hill. On pp. 262-63, they list Robert Glover among the volunteers raised for a mounted brigade in the summer of 1778 to reinforce the Continental Army in Rhode Island. Captain Peter Cross was in charge, and the brigade was in service from August 7th to the 27th/28th. Robert's war service is listed, p. 266, as 1775, Bunker Hill, Cambridge, 8 months; 1777 [note discrepancy], Rhode Island, 24 days; his place of burial was not listed, therefore was unknown.

He appeared in the census in 1790 in Nottingham West, Hillsborough Co., NH.113 Robert was a member of the Congregationalist church and is recorded as having voted on a church matter on 19 February 1796 in Nottingham, Hillsborough Co., NH.114 He was assigned to School District 3 on 1 March 1799 in Nottingham, Hillsborough Co., NH.115 He appeared in the census in 1800 in Nottingham West, Hillsborough Co., NH.116,117

Abner GRAVES118 was born on 8 January 1769 in Hillsdale, Columbia Co., NY.25 He appeared in the census in 1800 in Franklin Township, Delaware Co., NY.119 In this census, on the last line of the page, Abner Graves: Males 1 (26-45) Females 1 (16-26). Also on this page, Henry Couse and five Houghtailing households.

He served in the military enlisting in the county militia as a captain on 2 June 1803 in Delaware Co., NY.120 Abner appeared in the census in 1820 in Masonville, Delaware Co., NY.121

In this census, Abner Graves' household had one male less than 10, two males 10-15, one male 45 and over, three females under 10, one female 16-25, and one female 26-44. One person was engaged in agriculture. The Graves and Hamblets are on the same census page in this order: Abner Graves, Peter [C]ouse, John A.Vansi[s]e, Lott Cook, William McCrea, Samuel Hamlet (sic).  In each of the Graves and Hamblet households was a member of the right gender and in the right age group (see Anna's narrative for an age discrepancy) to be Samuel and Anna.  A search of this census at Ancestry.com brought up no Van Keurens or Van Curens in Delaware County.

He appeared in the census in 1830 in Masonville, Delaware Co., NY.122

In this household, Abner had ten individuals present, which may represent, besides his wife Catherine and him, one of his children, that child's spouse, and the young couples' children. Males: one under 5; one 5 - 9; one 10 - 14; one 20 - 29; one 60 - 69. Females: one 5 - 9; two 15 - 19; one 20 - 29; one 40 - 49.

He appeared in the census in 1840 in Masonville, Delaware Co., NY.123 Abner Graves is listed on the same census page as Samuel Hamlet (sic). Other families on the page include Couses and Whitmans.

Abner lived in Masonville, Delaware Co., NY for more than 20 years.25 He died on 21 November 1851 at the age of 82 in McClure Settlement, Broome Co., NY.124 He was buried in McClure Cemetery, Broome Co., NY.125,126

Hobart Graves of East Haddam, listed as a child of his parents on page 46 of Kenneth V. Graves' book, is shown in same to be a third cousin to Abner Graves, likely father-in-law of Samuel Hamblet. The Graves of East Haddam married into the Hungerford, Spencer, Stewart, and Cone families, and Hobart Graves testified for Mehitable (Hungerford) Stewart and Jehiel Hungerford in their applications for Revolutionary War service pensions. Because Hobart Graves was closely associated with our Stewart line of ancestors, likely his cousin Abner Graves, or Abner's father Stephen of East Haddam, also knew our Stewart ancestors.

Spouse: Elizabeth BURCH. Elizabeth BURCH and Abner GRAVES were married before 1800.25 Children were: Anna GRAVES.

Spouse: Catherine COUSE. Catherine COUSE and Abner GRAVES were married in 1800.25 Children were: Roxcy GRAVES.

Anna GRAVES127 was born in Masonville, Delaware Co., NY.128 She died in June 1848.129 This death date is problematic. It seems as if the Samuel Hamblet who married Electa Noble in Branch Co., 1847, would have to be our Samuel Hamblet and that it was a short marriage, both members moving on. But was Anna still alive, and, if so, were Sam and Anna divorced?

Information from Harold V. Hamblet’s records and the censuses present inconsistencies for Anna Graves.  She would have been born before 1800, when Abner married Catherine Couse, but she was not listed in Abner’s household in the Federal census of 1800.  In the 1820 census, it seems likely that she would be the one female recorded in the 16-20 age category, but she would be older than twenty, and instead this female might have been Roxcy, 13, mistakenly put in the higher age group.  Either Anna or Roxcy was missing, and neither’s age was a match for the 16-20 category.  In the 1830 census, Samuel Hamblet’s wife was recorded in the 20-29 category, and in the 1840 censuses, she was listed in the 30-39 category, so in neither census did her age indicate that she was born before 1800.

Anna Graves, the daughter of Abner Graves and Elizabeth Burch, has an established ancestry back to the immigrant John Graves of Concord, MA [see Kenneth Vance Graves, John Graves, 1635 Settler of Concord, MA, and His Descendants (Wrentham, MA, published by author, 2002. Vol. 6 of Graves Family series, Part 1 of 2)]. Online, (and with the usual cautions about undocumented online data) see RootsWeb's WorldConnect and search for her grandfather, Stephen Graves who married Patience Hatch. Some online genealogies give Patience Hatch a Mayflower ancestor, and while that is likely, based on the apparent association of the specific Hatch and Graves families, the evidence is not substantial enough to make the case at present.

Parents: Abner GRAVES and Elizabeth BURCH.

Spouse: Samuel M. HAMBLET. Anna GRAVES and Samuel M. HAMBLET were married before 1825.128,130 Children were: Samuel Glover HAMBLET, Alford/Alfred HAMBLET.

Mehitable GREELEY135 was born on 1 October 1724 in Nottingham, Hillsborough Co., NH.136 Parents: Deacon Samuel GREELEY and Rachel ROBINSON.

Spouse: Hezekiah HAMBLET. Mehitable GREELEY and Hezekiah HAMBLET were married on 26 April 1744 in Nottingham, Hillsborough Co., NH.137 Children were: Samuel HAMBLET.

Deacon Samuel GREELEY111,138 was born about 1695.139 He lived in Nottingham, now Hudson, Hillsborough Co., NH as of about 1740.138 He died on 25 May 1771 at the age of 76 in Nottingham, Hillsborough Co., NH.140 Samuel was buried at Blodgett Cemetery in Nottingham, Hillsborough Co., NH.138

Webster and Browne:
"Deacon Samuel Greeley removed from Haverhill, Mass., to Nottingham about 1740, and settled on a farm extending from the Merrimack River to Hills' Meadow, a distance of about one and one-half miles. It contained some two hundred acres, and was the adjoining farm on the north of the original Joseph Blodgett Garrison place.

Until within a few years this farm had wholly remained in the possession of Deacon Greeley's descendants, and a part is still owned by Samuel A. Greeley, whose house occupies the identical site on which the original house was erected by his ancestor in 1740. His children were all born in Haverhill before his removal to this town.

Samuel Greeley was elected clerk of the District of Nottingham, August 9,174, and was re-elected each succeeding year as long as it continued a district - until 1746.

He was chosen one of the selectmen in 1743, 5, 6, 7 and 8. He was chairman of the Board in 1746.

March 7, 1748, Deacon Samuel Greeley and John Marsh were chosen delegates to the New Hampshire General Court, to answer a citation in relation to a petition of Josiah Cummings and other inhabitants of the town, to be released from paying taxes for the support of Rev. Mr. Nathaniel Merrill.

Deacon Greeley was a very influential citizen in the early affairs of the town.

His wife, Rachel, died September 19, 1758, in the 62d year of her age. He married a second wife, Jane, who died June 12, 1762, in her 58th year. This last wife was buried in the ancient burial yard at South Nashua, where her head stone still remains. He died May 25,1771, in his 76th year, and was buried in the Blodgett Cemetery beside his first wife, where their head stones may still be seen."

Ruth M. Park:
"...In the records for Blodgett Cemetery are the following items:

Edward GRISWOLD was born about 1607.146 He emigrated in 1639 from Kenilworth, County Warwick, England.147 He lived in Windsor, Hartford Co., CT after 1639.147 Edward bought land on 14 April 1654.148 On that date, John Tinker of Boston sold his farm of 226 acres in Windsor to Edward Griswold, Thomas Holcomb, and Samuel Phelps.

He died in 1691 at the age of 84 in Killingworth, Middlesex Co., CT.149,150

Manwaring:
"P. C. No 203; Vol. II Name: Edward Griswold Location:
The statement of Edward Griswold reveals an ebb-tide in the affairs and settlement of Windsor.
The Testimony of Edward Griswold, aged about 77 years, is that about the year 1639 Mr. William Whiting, Decd, was Undertaker for a shipp in England, in which Shipp I came to New England. The sd Mr. Whiting borrowed of one Mr. John Saint Nicholas about two hundred pounds, wch I had the Bill to receive here, wch money reced. against Mr. Whiting by Mr. Nicholas order here. And at the time many passengers came over, severall of which settled in Windsor, and a gennerall expectation there was at that time, as appeared by discourse of many more passengers to come, and some of note, as the said Mr. St. Nicholas for one, by which means Land at Windsor near the towne and ready for improvement was at a high price; and about that time the said Mr. Whiting bought. as was Commonly reported, Mr. Ludlow's Land at Windsor, that is, when Land was dear, and I know Mr. Ludlow went away then in a short time after. But afterwards people that were Expected out of England, not Comeing in Such numbers as was looked for, Mr. Ludlow ( ) to England, and others removeing to the Sea Side, the Lands at Windsor fell very much in price from what they were at when Mr. Ludlow sold to Mr. Whiting, So that Generally, to my Observance, Lands were not sold but at half the price as before or about half the price. Further, I testifie that the above said Mr. St. Nicholas, living near Mr. Hewett in England, did manifest his desire to settle by Mr. Hewett in New England, and by my observance of Mr. St. Nicholas words and actions and also Mr. Whiting, did apprehend that Mr Whiting bought Mr. Ludlow's Lands to accomodate the said Mr. St Nicholas. Mr. Edward Griswold personally appeared this 15 May, 1684, & made oath to the above written before me.
John Allyn, Assist."

Lydia HADLEY152,153,154,155,156,157 was born on 9 August 1748 in Amesbury, Essex Co., MA.158

I [DP] have seen no information about Lydia Hadley, the wife of Robert Glover, other than that she was the wife of Robert Glover. However, it is highly probable that she was the daughter of Eliphalet and Elizabeth (Davis) Hadley, and it is their daughter Lydia's birth date and place that I have used above. These data support her placement in that family:

Eliphalet and Elizabeth had a daughter Lydia of an age to be Robert Glover's wife. James R. Hadley, p. 16, writes, "Notes for Eliphalet Hadley: After his death, Elifelet Hadley's widow moved to what is now Hudson, NH with her children. The four children settled in Hudson. (A. M. Hadley manuscript)...."

The 1800 census index (GenealogyLibrary.com, 1800 NH Census Index, p. 157, available September 20, 2001) puts Glovers and Hamblets in proximity with some of the Hadleys. Found on page 598 of the census are Eliphalet and Stephen Hadley, David and Robert Glover, and Aaron, Josiah, and Thomas Hamlet. A Moses Hadley is to be found on page 599. James R. Hadley, p. 17, lists a brother Eliphalet for Lydia (daughter of Eliphalet and Elizabeth) and, p. 33, first cousin Nehemiah's sons named Moses and Stephen.

Browne and Webster list these names among the 118 townsmen who signed the 1776 pledge to defend the Colonies from the British: David Glover, Thomas Hamblet, and these Hadleys -- Eliphalet, Eliphalet, Jr., Stephen, Moses, Parit, and Seth. James R. Hadley, p. 17, lists a brother Seth for Lydia and a first cousin (Nehemiah's son) Parrot.

First Church of Christ records:
On August 19, 1770, a "Lidia" Hadley was admitted to full communion (membership) in the church. Other Hadley records of about the same time were: Eliphelet Hadley and wife, membership, Sept. 31, 1770; Moses Hadley and ____ Tarbox, marriage, March 12, 1770; Seth Hadley and Tabatha Meril, marriage, Sept. 10, 1772; and Stephen Hadley and Anna Smith, marriage, April 22, 1773.

And sources indicate that Elizabeth Hadley, who would be Lydia's mother, died in Hillsborough County:

(1) From deaths listed in the Farmer's Cabinet, Amherst, NH, issue of Dec. 13, 1808, "At Hancock, Nov. 22d, Widow Elizabeth Hadley, aet 86."

(2) Bartz, from gravestone data, Hancock, Hillsborough Co., NH:
"Pine Ridge Cemetery was originally called Old Cemetery. I have a listing of the inscriptions and her inscription reads as follows:
Mrs. Elizabeth, wife of Mr. Eliphalet Hadley, died Nov. 22, 1808, AE 86 years...."

In addition to their living in the same locality and, as seen in the census of 1800, as neighbors, the Hadleys and Hamblets both followed the custom of using surnames of former generations as given names for their children. Examples are the names Samuel Glover Hamblet and Parrot (Parratt) Hadley. The surname Davis is also used, as in Seth Davis Hadley, b. March 27, 1816, to Seth and Sally (Blodgett) Hadley of Nottingham West Township, Hillsborough Co., NH (IGI, Batch 7540041, Source 1000947); and as in Robert and Lydia Glover's grandson Daniel Davis Hamblet (Harold V. Hamblet records). The name Davis used as a middle name for Daniel Hamblet is a strong indication that Lydia (Hadley) Glover belongs to the family of Eliphalet and Elizabeth (Davis) Hadley of Amesbury.

By searching RootsWeb's WorldConnect (with the usual cautions about undocumented online data) for the Eliphalet Hadley who married Elizabeth Davis, one can find generations of ancestors, including Susanna (North) Martin, who was hung as a witch in Salem, MA, in 1692.

Spouse: Robert GLOVER. Lydia HADLEY and Robert GLOVER were married.97,104 Children were: Elizabeth GLOVER, Naomi GLOVER, Robert GLOVER, Molly GLOVER, David GLOVER, Lydia GLOVER, Nellie GLOVER, Olive GLOVER, Benjamin GLOVER, Seth GLOVER, Rachel GLOVER.

His wife is listed as Annie P., 33 years old, married for 14 years, and the mother of seven children of whom four were living: Loretta A., 12, born in Nebraska; Harold H., 11, and Margaret, 9, both born in Idaho; and F___es D. , 2, born in Nebraska. Samuel Glover HAMBLET206 was born about 1825.161 About 1852 he was a farmer in Algansee, Branch Co., MI.206 He appeared in the census in 1870 in Kane Twp., Pottawattamie Co., IA.207 The 1870 census lists this family as Glover Hamblet, age 44; Joanna, age 35; Jane, age 13; Charlotte, age 11; Seth, age 9; Ella, age 4, and Alma and Alice, both age 1.

Samuel died in 1898 at the age of 73.206

Spouse: Joanna C. TIBBETS. Joanna C. TIBBETS and Samuel Glover HAMBLET were married about 1852.206 Children were: Seth HAMBLET, Ella HAMBLET.

Samuel M. HAMBLET was born on 14 December 1796 in West Fairlee, Orange Co., VT.208,209 He appeared in the census in 1820 in Masonville, Delaware Co., NY.210 On this page of the census, Reuben Crippen...Roger Whitman...Abner Graves, Peter Couse...William Mccrea, Samuel Hamlet (sic). Samuel's household had one male 10-15, three males 16-25, and one female over 45. Three were engaged in agriculture. I think this would represent Samuel, his three brothers, and their mother.

He appeared in the census in 1830 in Masonville, Delaware Co., NY.183 Samuel's household contained a male in the age category 30-39, a female in the category 20-29, and a male in the category 5-9. Noah M. Hamblet was next to him, not far below on the page were Peter Couse and Abner Graves, and farther below on the page, Daniel D. Hamblet.

Samuel appeared in the census in 1840 in Masonville, Delaware Co., NY.123 In this census, Samuel Hamlet (sic) had a household of five consisting of one female 30-39, one male 40-49, and younger males: one 5-9, one 15-19, and one 30-39.

He appeared in the census in 1850 in Algansee, Branch Co., MI.161 The household, at time of the 1850 Branch Co. census, consisted of three individuals: Samuel Hamblet, age 48, Glover Hamblet, age 25, and Alfred [G.] Hamblet, age 17. Samuel was listed as a farmer, real estate valued at $800.

He appeared in the census in 1855 in Tompkins, Delaware Co., NY.211,212 The Harold V. Hamblet records indicate that his second wife, Amanda Inglesbee (sic), had two sons, Luther and Henry (Harvey), from a previous marriage and that they were listed in Samuel's household in the 1855 census of Delaware Co.

Samuel was probably in Surrogate Court on 8 June 1858 in Delaware Co., NY.213

On this date, $4.50 was paid for Letters of Guardianship for Luther T. and Harry (sic) Ingalsbee (sic). While I [DP] don't know the details, I would think that this represents Samuel Hamblet's becoming their legal guardian.

He appeared in the census in 1860 in James Township, Pottawattamie Co., IA.164 The 1860 Pottawattamie Co. census listed Samuel, age 61; Amanda, age 45; Luther Inglesby (sic), age 20; Har[v]ey, age 19.

He appeared in the census in 1870 in Kane Twp., Pottawattamie Co., IA.214 The 1870 census listed Sam Hamblet, age 70, born in New Hampshire, and Amanda, age 56.

Samuel died in Harlan, Shelby Co., IA (?).128 He was buried in Harlan, Shelby Co., IA (?).128,215

My[DP's] family thought that Samuel Hamblet's wife, the mother of his children, was Annie Van Curen. This surname is spelled several ways and is not common in any spelling. Members of that family who have done research and have good knowledge of the surname do not have a candidate for this Annie. On the other hand, Harold V.Hamblet, researching the Hamblets, recorded Samuel's wife as Anna Graves, which is most likely correct, and recorded Samuel’s brother Noah as married to Roxcy Graves, half-sister of Anna.  The Graves and the Hamblets were listed near each other in the 1820 census, when Samuel and Anna would have been young and still at home.  In 1830, Samuel's household, appearing to be in the same neighborhood as it was in 1820, indicates that he had married and had a son born about 1825.

Parents: Samuel HAMBLET and Naomi GLOVER.

Spouse: Anna GRAVES. Anna GRAVES and Samuel M. HAMBLET were married before 1825.128,130 Children were: Samuel Glover HAMBLET, Alford/Alfred HAMBLET.

Seth HAMBLET was born in July 1861 in Iowa.217

See accompanying photo, tentatively identified on the basis of the original labeling. Who labeled this photo and to whom it originally belonged are unknown. I [DP] dated it based on Fanny (Hamblet) (Greer) Kiechel's two Kiechel children, feeling confident that Charlie is the toddler wearing a cap in front and that George, born in April 1889, is on the woman's lap at left. Fannie is at left, back, with her four children to the left of the group, and Estella (Hamblet) McMurry is at right, back, behind her husband and children. After considerable thought, I think it is most likely that "Father Hamblet" is Seth. None of Alford's sons were married by 1889, and "Father Hamblet" appears too young to be of the generation of Fannie and Estella's parents. Seth was recently married in 1889 and would be about 28 years old. His wife Nancy was two years younger.

This analyses would leave two women unidentified as to which is which, one of them being Nancy and the other, Elly Hamblet's niece named ____ Long. Elly, not in the photo, could have been Seth's sister, based on the 1870 Federal Census, in which Samuel Glover (listed as "Glover") Hamblet's family included Seth, age 9, and Ella, age 4. Because Ella had married in 1883 (see her narrative), she could have had nieces on her husband's side of the family.

Parents: Samuel Glover HAMBLET and Joanna C. TIBBETS.

Spouse: Nancy . Nancy and Seth HAMBLET were married.19

Joshua HORTON223 was born (date unknown).223

Children were: Rhoda HORTON.

Rhoda HORTON224,225,226 was born (date unknown).

Rhoda Horton's ancestry is not known, but it seems likely that she could be a descendant of Barnabas Horton, emigrant who died July 13, 1680, in Suffold, Suffolk Co., NY. This seems likely because given names used in the Barnabas Horton line are associated with Stephen Squier's family. The "Stephen Squier Biography" states he and Margaret had a son named Joshua Horton Squier. Joshua is a name at least somewhat common in Barnabas' line, beginning with his son. The biography also states that Stephen bought land "from Foster HORTON of Nicholson for $1000. Foster Horton had come from Chatham, New Jersey; he built a mill at the mouth of the creek bearing his name. Since Stephen SQUIER's first wife's mother was a HORTON, he may have been her kinsman." A descendant of Barnabas, the Reverend Azariah Horton, had a son named Foster who lived in Chatham, New Jersey, as well as a son named Azariah. These names appear on the deed for a Stephen Squier land sale in 1830:

"Vol. 27:514 ? Stephen Squier sells land to Arah Squier, both of Nicholson Twp. on 9 Nov. 1830. The 100+ acres was located in Nicholson Twp., and sold for $50.00. This was part of the Andrew Adgate Patent, sold by Azariah Horton to Foster Horton to Stephen Squier."

Daniel KIECHEL was born on 28 December 1857 in Ostheim, Alsace, France.244 He emigrated in 1858.245 He appeared in the census in 1880 in Hendricks, Otoe Co., NE.246 Daniel Kiechel's occupation in this census is "herding."

Daniel owned land in Sections 27 and 9, T34N R21W, in Keya Paha Co., NE.247 He lived at on a farm about two miles southeast of Brock in Nemaha County, NE between 1894 and 1909.63 He appeared in the census in 1900 in Lafayette Precinct, Nemaha Co., NE.248 In this census, the six Kiechel children are present. There is a James [Chopps], born in 1880, in the household, listed as a servant. Fannie's parents are recorded as having been born in Pennsylvania (father) and Indiana (mother).

Daniel owned a farm in 1909 in Howard Co., NE.143 In the spring of 1909, Dan Kiechel purchased a farm from John Evans. The house was built by Mr. Evans for a Mr. Verden when he married Maggie Glass in 1902-03. The Kiechels (son Charles and family after the death of his father) lived there from 1907 to 1918, thus it was the first home of Ellen (Kiechel) Partsch. The farm was located at T15N, R10W, SE 1\4 of Section 11, Howard County, Nebraska. The house was donated to the Howard County Historical Society in 1976 by Alex Kulwicki, and it was moved into the historical village in St. Paul, Howard Co., Nebraska.

He appeared in the census in 1910 in Logan Precinct, Howard Co., NE.249 In this census, five children, all Kiechels, are present with the sixth, George, absent. Fannie's father's birthplace is recorded as New York, and her mother's, Wisconsin. Daniel's birthplace and his parents' are recorded as Germany. The record lists the number of children born to Fannie as eight, all living. (The first two, Alford and Belle Greer, were from her first marriage, and the six Kiechel children were Charles, George, Alice, Emile, Stella, and Gladys.)

John C. KITTLE was born about 1845.33 Parents: Unknown KITTLE and Harriet PHELPS.

Unknown KITTLE was born in Pennsylvania or New York.258 He died between 1844 and 1847.259

Family memory held that Emily Kittle's father was Griswold Kettle/Kittle. No Griswold Kettle/Kittle appeared in the censuses, nor could I find any reference to the name, in any likely spelling, elsewhere. It seems most likely that the name "Griswold" came from the preceding Phelps generation, and Mr. Kittle's given name remains unknown. From the Family History Library's (FHL) microfilm, #1872113, Steuben Co., IN, Probate and Circuit Court Records, General Index 1838-1924, it can be assumed that Mr. Kittle probably did not die in Steuben County, for there is no probate record for him; if nothing else, as the head of a household, an inventory of his estate should have been filed. And from FHL microfilm #1871913, Steuben Co., IN, General Index of Deeds, likewise, he does not appear as a land purchaser or seller.

Spouse: Harriet PHELPS. Harriet PHELPS and Unknown KITTLE were married about 1832.260 Children were: Emily KITTLE, William H. KITTLE, John C. KITTLE.
