He was 1 NOTE somewhat of a drifter until he was almost 43 years old and married my 1 NOTE mother. He made an attempt to settle down on a small farm near Coloma, 1 NOTE Missouri about the time I was born, but it wasn't until his retirement in 1 NOTE 1966 that he finally settled down in one place. As I was growing up he 1 NOTE owned or operated a number of businesses and farms. He was an avid 1 NOTE fisherman all his life. He also loved to sing, which he did not do 1 NOTE well. One day he and my husband, Bill Calton, were out in the boat going 1 NOTE down the lake when Bill heard a strange noise and thought something was 1 NOTE wrong with the outboard motor. Imagine his surprise when he discovered 1 NOTE it was just Pat singing. When he was just a boy he lived just a short 1 NOTE distance from Harry Truman's father. One day he fell out of a tree 1 NOTE breaking his collarbone. He was taken to the elder Mr. Truman's house 1 NOTE and Mr. Truman promptly set it and taped him up. He must have done a 1 NOTE good job, because it never bothered him again. 1 NOTE He ran away to join the army when he was only 15 years old because 1 NOTE everyone he knew was going to WWI. He was discovered in South Carolina 1 NOTE and promptly returned to Kansas City. He was drafted at the age of 42, 1 NOTE when WWII was on. He spent six months in the army serving as a cook in 1 NOTE Texas. He turned out to be a very good cook and even after his 1 NOTE retirement at age 65 he could be found up making cookies as early as 3 1 NOTE a.m., so he could take small packages of them around the trailer park at 1 NOTE Gravois Mills, Missouri to deliver as he made his morning rounds checking 1 NOTE on "his old people". 1 NOTE He operated a tavern in Slater, Missouri and could often be found 1 NOTE sitting at a big round table playing pitch, poker, and black jack. He 1 NOTE also frequented the local pool hall where he was an excellent shot' 1 NOTE running the snooker table on more than one occasion. 1 NOTE He worked as an anodizer at a small plant in Kansas City, Missouri, 1 NOTE Quality Finishing Co. for several years before his retirement. He also 1 NOTE worked as a tree trimmer in Kansas City, where he was admonished almost 1 NOTE daily for not wearing the safety belt. He is buried in the Versailles, 1 NOTE Missouri cemetery. 0 @I16@ INDI 1 NAME Pattie Jo /Cahill/ 1 FAMS @F16@ 1 FAMS @F17@ 1 FAMS @F18@ 1 FAMC @F13@ 0 @I17@ INDI 1 NAME John Chris /Petcoff/ 1 FAMS @F16@ 0 @I18@ INDI 1 NAME Chris Raye /Petcoff/ 1 FAMS @F19@ 1 FAMC @F16@ 0 @I19@ INDI 1 NAME David Ray /Jones/ 1 FAMS @F19@ 0 @I20@ INDI 1 NAME Olivia Rayann /Jones/ 1 FAMC @F19@ 0 @I21@ INDI 1 NAME Daniel Lester /Jones/ 1 FAMC @F19@ 0 @I22@ INDI 1 NAME Brian Richard /Clevenger/ 1 SEX M 1 BIRT 2 DATE 13 MAR 1946 2 PLAC Texas 1 DEAT 2 DATE 1988 2 PLAC Ardmore,Oklahoma 1 FAMS @F17@ 0 @I23@ INDI 1 NAME Brian Patrick /Clevenger/ 1 FAMS @F21@ 1 FAMC @F17@ 0 @I24@ INDI 1 NAME Tyler Patrick /Clevenger/ 1 FAMC @F21@ 0 @I25@ INDI 1 NAME William Don /Calton/ 1 FAMS @F18@ 0 @I26@ INDI 1 NAME Elizabeth Ann /Calton/ 1 FAMC @F18@ 0 @I1476@ INDI 1 NAME Lawrence Welchian /Cahill/ 1 SEX M 1 DEAT 2 DATE 1948 2 PLAC buried in Slater,Saline county,Missouri 1 FAMS @F15@ 1 FAMC @F714@ 0 @I1477@ INDI 1 NAME Lillie Jane /Cross/ 1 SEX F 1 BIRT 2 DATE Abt 1863 2 PLAC Saline county 1 DEAT 2 DATE 6 JUN 1956 2 PLAC Kansas City,Missouri (buried in Slater,Saline county,Missouri 1 FAMS @F15@ 0 @I1478@ INDI 1 NAME Charles /Cahill/ 1 FAMS @F716@ 1 FAMC @F15@ 0 @I1479@ INDI 1 NAME Charles A /Cahill/ 1 FAMS @F717@ 1 FAMC @F716@ 0 @I1480@ INDI 1 NAME Gwendolyn /Cahill/ 1 FAMC @F716@ 0 @I1481@ INDI 1 NAME /Mary/ 1 FAMS @F717@ 0 @I1482@ INDI 1 NAME Robert /Cahill/ 1 FAMC @F717@ 0 @I1483@ INDI 1 NAME William /Cahill/ 1 FAMC @F717@ 0 @I1484@ INDI 1 NAME Sue Mae /Cahill/ 1 SEX F 1 BIRT 2 DATE 11 NOV 1 DEAT 2 PLAC Versailles,Morgan county,Missouri 1 FAMS @F718@ 1 FAMC @F15@ 0 @I1485@ INDI 1 NAME Robert Henry /Chambers/ 1 FAMS @F718@ 0 @I1486@ INDI 1 NAME Nancy Elizabeth /Cahill/ 1 SEX F 1 BIRT 2 DATE 1 NOV 1889 1 DEAT 2 DATE MAR 1981 2 PLAC near Versailles,Morgan county,Missouri 1 FAMS @F719@ 1 FAMC @F15@ 1 NOTE Nancy (Aunt Bess) Cahill cared for her elderly parents for many years. 1 NOTE In her later life she lived in the trailer park at Gravois Mills, 1 NOTE Missouri.
