Order in Council for the regulation of the naval service.
10 Jun 1864
Full and Half-Pay of the Chaplains of Naval Hospitals.

Whereas we have had under our consideration the position of the Chaplains of Your Majesty's Naval Hospitals; we beg leave most humbly to propose to Your Majesty that these officers should be placed on the same footing as the Chaplains of Your Majesty's Dockyards as regards civil pay and half pay, viz., on a civil salary of 350 per annum in lieu of the present salary of 300 per annum, but with only 5s. per diem of such half-pay as they may be entitled to receive from length of service. We do not propose to place Chaplains at present employed in Your Majesty's Naval Hospitals on the new scale of pay unless they should themselves desire it, but we propose to apply it to all future appointments. The Lords of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this arrangement.
