Admiralty, 5th November, 1860.
My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty have been pleased, under the sanction of Her Majesty�s Order in Council of the 26th ult., to establish the following Regulations, respecting the rank and classification of Warrant Officers of the Royal Navy.
- Gunners, Boatswains, and Carpenters shall in future take rank according to the dates of their appointment to the class to which they shall at any time belong ; and not according to the dates of their first warrants.
- Advancement from one class to another shall be considered as a promotion.
- These Regulations do not alter the present relative rank and precedence of Gunners, Boatswains, and Carpenters.
