- Dean John Birdsong has two volumes entirely devoted to the Birdsong ancestral line beginning with John & Elizabeth Birdsong's descendants covering 6 generations. These two are the progenitors of more than 6,000 Birdsongs that he has in his database.
- He also has noted that some researchers believe the name Birdsong to be of German origin, with Voglesang translated to Birdsong by early immigrants to England and Scotland. This hasn't been proven at this time.
