Source: The Herald Argus �LaPorte IN Jan 12, 2010 PAVEY, DONALD DUANE LA PORTE, IN Mr. Donald Duane Pavey, age 63, of La Porte, IN, died Sunday, June 15, 2008, at LaPorte Hospital after a long battle with cancer which he fought with dignity, courage, wisdom, and understanding. He was born August 5, 1944 in Sullivan, IN to the late Clyde Pavey and Wanda (Webb) Pavey. Mr. Pavey was a self-made man. At an early age, he found his way that would lead him into a career that he would spend helping others. He graduated from Westville High School in 1962, Purdue University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, from Indiana State University in 1972 with a Master of Science degree and from Columbia Pacific University in 1984 where he received a Doctor of Philosophy. His career started at Beatty Memorial Hospital, working his way through college and helped on the family farm. He was currently employed at the Community Healing Center of Niles Mich. as a teacher counselor, advisor healer and friend. He was a man of many talents, he loved all sports but his favorites were hunting and fishing with his son. He was very competitive when playing sports, and he loved to watch his son Chad play soccer. He is survived by a son Chad Pavey of De Soto, IL.; his Mother Mrs. Wanda Pavey of LaPorte, Ind. and several other relatives. He is preceded in death by his father Clyde Pavey. GREENWOOD, IN Donald E. Pavey, 86, of Green�wood, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011. He was born Oct. 14, 1924, in Lake Cicott, to the late Claude and Marie McLeland Pavey. He was a retired chemist from Eli Lilly. He was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church and the American Legion and a former president of the Johnson County Shrine Club. Born Oct. 8, 1920, she was the daughter of Willard and Carrie (Weir) Cox, both deceased. She married Charles T. Pike Nov. 17, 1940; he preceded her in death in 1972. She married Charles Pavey Sept. 3, 1991; he preceded her in death Oct. 24, 1991. Mrs. Pavey lived in Rushville most of her life. She was a prior member of the Methodist Church of New Salem. She later joined St. Mary Catholic Church and was a member of the St. Mary�s Over 50 Club, Women�s Sodality, Rush County Senior Citizens, and O.E.S. No. 154 of Anderson. She worked in the office of Rush Memorial Hospital for 13 years after living in Anderson for 20 years. INDIANAPOLIS, IN William C. �Bud� Pavey, 70, of Spencer, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2011, at St. Vincent�s Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on July 13, 1940 in Bloomington to the late William Leslie and Geraldine (Douthitt) Pavey. Bud was the owner of �Bud�s Sandwich Shop� from 1966-2002. He was a member of the 11th Street Pentecostal Faith Assembly, and the Bloomington Moose Lodge. He was an avid bowler, and he loved sports. Bud leaves behind his wife, Donna (Chandler) Pavey of Spencer; his son, Bill Pavey of Bloomington; his step-children, Joe (Triana) Johnson of Bloomfield, Ruth �Ann� (Terry) Inabnitt of Henderson, Nevada, Ronda (Rob) Ramsak of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Jane (Chuck) Lyons of Bloomington. Samuel Pavy, died of consumption, Feb. 22, 1872, aged 79 years 1 month and 5 day, at the residence of Mr. Supply Walker, near Querqus Grove, Switzerland county, Indiana. He was born in Harrison county Kentucky, January 17th, 1793. In the year 1813 he enlisted in the service of his country. Returning from the army he was married to Miss Sallie Babit, September 11th, 1814. In the year 1829 he moved to Indiana, where he has since resided. In the year 1823 he became an ordained minister in the "Regular Baptist" branch of the Church in which he remained until death. Although death came suddenly, it was not unexpected. It found him with his "house in order" and his work accomplished." His trust was firm in the God of his salvation. Death to him had lost his terror and the grave was robbed of its gloom. He was buried in the cemetery at Quercus Grove beside the remains of his companion, who had preceded him to the "better land" 1 year, 1 month and 2 days. As a minister of the Gospel he was faithful, earnest and practical. As a citizen he was upright and scrupulously exact, a "true man" in the strictest sense. As a father, his was an example worthy of the inituation of his household, and of all who came within his influence. His funeral sermon was preached by the writer from Job 14, 10; "But man dieth and wasteth away", "Yea, man giveth up the Gost and where is he?" Truly we may say a good man has fallen. LUTCHER, IN Funeral services for Yvonne Foret Pavy will begin Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at 11 a.m. with the Divine Mercy Chaplets at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia. Visitation will be at the church Tuesday, May 6, 6:30-10 p.m., with the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary at 8:30 p.m., and from 8 a.m. until time of services. Mrs. Pavy, a native of Lutcher, died Sunday, May 4, at Iberia Medical Center after a long illness. She was one of eight children and was known as "Sis" by family in her home town. She earned a bachelor's of science degree in home economics from SLI in Lafayette and taught for several years. She was listed in Who's Who Among College and University Students. Mrs. Pavy was a gourmet cook and seamstress, gave classes in food garnishing, produced preserves and jellies ("Vonnie's Best"), and she planned and catered numerous family gatherings, such as birthday parties and weddings. She spent much time in her greenhouse and gardening, and she loved fishing and having her own boat. Yvonne taught catechism, was a director of religious education and was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She was also past president of the Iberia Medical Auxiliary and was active in the Save Our Coast environmental organization, serving as an officer. Never was she idle. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dr. Donald A. Pavy; her daughter, Mary Ann Pavy Jacobs; two grandsons, James "J.D." and John Jacobs, both of New Iberia; four brothers, Lynn Foret and Jerry Foret, both of Lake Charles, Dan Foret of LaPlace and Eugene Foret of Midland, Texas; and one sister, Lorraine Foret Larose of Memphis, Tenn. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Foret Jr. and Ivonne Bourgeois Foret; her son, Philip Pavy; and two brothers, Thomas Foret III and Dr. James A. Foret. Pallbearers will be Dr. Lynn Foret Jr., Rickey Foret, James Foret Jr., Jacques Larose, James Sellers, Andre Comeaux, Gerald Foret and Francis Xavier Pavy. Her first marriage was to Harold J. Cripe, who is deceased. She then married Donald George Peavey, Jr., on Dec. 6, 1968, in Fort Wayne. He died Aug. 21, 1989. Surviving are two sons, Jimmy Ray (Luanne) Cripe, Syracuse, and Michael J. Cripe, Williamsburg, Ill.; three grandchildren, Rhonda (Terry) Dorn, Goshen, Cheryl (Steve) Beasy, Goshen, and Dayton Cripe, Williamsburg, Ill.; six step grandchildren and five great�grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Ray Harkins, Mishawka; two step daughters, Susan Satterfield and Sally Rush. Dorcas was preceded in death by her parents, and four sisters. Mrs. Peavey worked for many years in Fort Wayne at Continental Seals as an inspector. She also worked at Meijer Stores as a clerk and retired in 2003. Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Mrs. Dugan was born in Darlington and was reared in the Crawfordsville area, graduating from Crawfordsville High School. She was a 50-year DAR member, a member of PEO Chapter of Indianapolis and a member of the Methodist Church. She was born Sept 1, 1904, a daughter of G. A. and Alpha Williamson. She was first married to George Peavey then to Carl Dugan. They both preceded her in death. Mrs. Dugan is survived by a son, Robert M. Peavey of Beaumont, Texas; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Warren McCormick of Michigan City; a sister, Mrs. Virgil (Francis) Louden of Indianapolis; a brother, Foster B. Williamson of Crawfordsville; and 11 grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Broad Ripple Chapel of Flanner & Buchanan Mortuary. JACKSONVILLE , IN George T. Peavey, 96, of Jasonville, Ind. passed away at 6:08 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 in Greene County General Hospital Linton, Ind. He was born Dec. 18, 1915 in Clay County, IN to Frank Peavey and Gladys (Cooprider) Peavey. Survivors include his spouse, Iris R. (Pope) Peavey of Jasonville, IN whom he married on March 21, 1948; daughter, Beth Wolf of Jasonville, Ind.; son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Val Peavey of Houston, TX ; grandchildren Traver and Paige Wolf, Michael and Chantelle Peavey, Brandon Peavey, Tara and Joe Secrest; and great-grandchildren Jaycie Dunn, Bailey Peavey, Elyssa Secrest, Katie Peavey, and Emmalyn Wolf. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rachel Ellis and Eleanor Bridwell; and son-in-law, Tom Wolf. George was a 1934 Clay City High School Graduate. He was a self-employed farmer and a member of the Howesville Presbyterian Church. Farming was George's passion. He enjoyed reading his farm magazines. Another love of his was the church where he was involved in many ways. George was not a man of many words but a man of much action, this was his way. George's family was his pride and joy. DANVILLE, IN Cathryn H. Peverly, 95, died at 4:58 p.m. Thursday (March 18, 2010) at Hawthorne Inn, Danville. She was born on Jan. 11, 1915, near Perrysville, Ind., the daughter of John H. and Coral L. Johnson Hughes. She was a graduate of Sullivan High School and the University of Illinois, and received her master's degree from Indiana State University. She moved from Decatur to Perrysville in 1938, and moved from the farm to Danville in 1999. Cathryn was a high school teacher at Perrysville and North Vermillion for 17 years, retiring in 1973. Her memberships include St. James United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Delta Kappa Gamma, Indiana State Retired Teachers Association, and AARP. She was a 4-H Club Leader for many years, and a former member of Vermillion County Library Board. She served as a Red Cross volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital and United Samaritans Medical Center Sager Campus from 1974 to 1993. Cathryn married Ralph B. Peverly on July 11, 1936, at Pontiac; he died on Nov. 13, 1994. Her parents, a granddaughter Melissa Peverly, and sister-in-law Mary W. Hughes preceded her in death. A celebration of Cathryn's life will be at 11 a.m. CDT Wednesday, March 24, at St. James United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ken Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Hicks Cemetery, Perrysville.
