MISSOURI OBITUARIES PAVEY PAVEY, EDWARD RAY MURPHYSBORO, MO Edward Ray Pavey, age 76, of Murphysboro, passed away at 4:08 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2005, at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Ray was born on June 11, 1929, in Mifflin, Indiana, to Matty Pavey and Opal (Felker) Pavey. He was a U.S. Army Korean Veteran. Mr. Pavey was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the V.F.W. Post # 7190 in Murphysboro. He was floor installer and was owner of the former Wuest Floor Service in Murphysboro. Ray loved to go fishing, and enjoyed bowling. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Wuest on October 23, 1954, in St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro, and she preceded him in death on September 10, 2004. Survivors include two sons, Edward W. Pavey of St. Louis, MO, and Donald R. Pavey of Murphysboro; four grandchildren Richard Pavey and Aimee Pavey, both of Creve Coeur, IL, and Tiona Pavey and Misty Pavey, both of Murphysboro; three brothers and sister in laws, Howard Pavey and Goldie Pavey of English, IN, Earl and Winnie Pavey of Connorsville, IN, and Carl and Judy Pavey of Springfield, MO; his brother in laws and sister in laws and their spouses, Frances and Irving Burdess of Tucson, AZ, Bill and Ann Wuest , Jim and Rose Mary Wuest, and Loretta and Bob Varner, all of Murphysboro, Judy and Bob Heininger of Swansea, IL, and Dorothy and Pat Timmons of Belleville; several nieces and nephews. Submitted by Joyce Bridges PEAVEY PEAVEY, ALAN D. Birth: Aug. 9, 1965 - Death: Nov. 17, 2003 Alan D. Peavey, age 38, of Fair Play, passed away Monday, Nov. 17, 2003. He was born Aug. 9, 1965, in Springfield, to Ralph and Patty (Fly) Peavey. He was a graduate of Kickapoo High School and SMSU. He served in the United States Navy during Desert Storm. He had worked for the Department of Agriculture in Jefferson City; Jack Henry in Monett and he had worked as the coordinator of web development and taught computer classes at O.T.C. in Springfield before starting his own web design business. Survivors include his parents, Ralph and Patty Peavey of the home; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Edward Peavey of the home, and Fred and Linda Peavey of Kentucky; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pam and Don Coones of Fair Play, and Joy and Ted Shrader of Broken Arrow, Okla. Also left behind is a special love in his life, Raquel Hernandez-Carrillo of Mexico. Alan was a kind and loving soul who loved the Lord and his family and friends dearly. He will be deeply missed. Funeral services for Alan D. Peavey will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, in Harvest Assembly of God Church in Fair Play with Pastor Lyle Shaulis officiating. Our beloved Chip passed away on August 6, 2007, on the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds. Chip was born on April 30, 1959, in Long Island, New York, to Theresa Peavey (Barre) Chesbro and the late Albert. He attended Hanover schools and graduated from Hartford, Vermont, High School. Many will remember Chip as the man who developed the recipe for the delicious cinnamon rolls enjoyed locally at festivals and fairs around the country. Chip enjoyed a long, professional ice skating career, touring around the world with Holiday On Ice, Ice Follies, Ice Capades and the Japanese production of Las Vegas on Ice. During his years touring professionally, he met Steve Sweetin. Chip and Steve entered into a successful food service partnership as well as being life partners for over 28 years. Chip is survived by professional and personal partner, Steve Sweetin; his mother, Theresa Chesbro; his daughter, Kimber Hogan and son-in-law, Michael Hogan; his daughter, Traci Sumner; sister, Lisa; and brother, Jody. "NaNa" will be missed by his grandchildren, Michaell and Erik Babb, Alexandra Doss and Daisi Hogan and Ansley and Mallory Sumner. Additional family members and loved ones include Donna Peavey, Andy Hinson, Barry Doss, Dan Cunningham, Phyllis Westmoreland, Chantay Crews and many, many more. Also surviving are nephews, Eric, Blake and Zachary; and niece, Connor; as well as great-nephew, Collin. In addition to his father, Chip was preceded in death by his younger brother, Allen Peavey. WARRENSBURG, MO James S. Peavey, 75, of Warrensburg, died Monday, April 20, 2009, after complications from surgery. He was born Sept. 1, 1933, in Milford, Mass., the son of Lawrence and Helen (Smith) Peavey. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1976 and retired as a captain. After leaving the Air Force, he entered the appliance repair business in Warrensburg and eventually opened his own business. A lifelong lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed camping, canoeing and hiking, attending Philmont Scout Ranch on three occasions and the NRA Whitting Center twice. In retirement, he attended Central Missouri State University and received his bachelor's degree in geography, with a minor in political science. He married Sharon Lee Mayes, Aug. 12, 1961, at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. She survives, as do two children: Jennifer Mundinger and husband, Jeff, Warrensburg, and James W. Peavey and his wife Lynn, Kansas City; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements will be conducted by the Cremation Society of Kansas & Missouri, 5561 NW Barry Rd., Kansas City, Mo. At his request, no services are planned. Inurnment will be at a later date. SENECA, MO Ramona Bridgeford, 77, Seneca, Mo., went home to be with her husband and Jesus, May 22, 2011, from injuries sustained in the tornado that devastated Joplin. Ramona Mae Peavey was born Feb. 18, 1934, in Waseca, Minn., the daughter of Alvin Hugh and Violet Lilly (Sanders) Peavey Ramona had formerly taught preschool in California and was a member of Harmony Heights Baptist Church in Joplin. Ramona was the best mother a man could have and an inspiration to all who knew her. She loved her family and her church family. She was an amazing, honorable mother and a gracious loving grandmother. Ramona Mae Peavey married Leo Russell Bridgeford Sr. on July 15, 1952 in Yuma, Ariz., and he preceded her in death in December of 2001. Additional survivors include two sons, Leo Bridgeford Jr., Seneca, and Robert "Bob" Bridgeford, Gravette, Ark.; one daughter, Brenda Lindo, Seneca; her friend, Augusta Webb; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and adopted grandchildren. Funeral services under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 2, at the First Baptist Church in Seneca with Rev. Charlie Burnett officiating. Burial will be in the Seneca Cemetery with Robbie Bridgeford, Leo Bridgeford III, Michael Bridgeford, Tommy Lindo Jr., Dale Daniels and Lester Cooper Jr. serving as pallbearers. MACKS CREEK, CAMDEN, MO Walter Hollis Peavey, 60, a native of Macks Creek, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009 at his home in Macks Creek after a long battle with the cancer myeloma. He was born Dec. 26, 1948, in San Diego, Calif., a son to Glen Newell and Delores (VanDenburg) Peavey. Walter was united in marriage on November 18, 1977, in Macks Creek to Helen Newton, and together they had shared the past 31 years until his passing. Walter also became part of Ben and Veora�s family, living with them for a short while and celebrating many holidays and birthdays with them and their children and grandchildren. In his spare time, Walter enjoyed fishing and landscaping with trees and shrubs. He also loved to barbecue and spend time with his friends and family. He is survived by his wife Helen of the home; two daughters, Stephanie Hurt and husband Jacob of Springfield, Mo., and Tiffany Willis and husband Joe of Macks Creek; his stepfather, James �Bud� Young and wife Jane of Blue Springs, Mo.; two brothers, John Peavey of Macks Creek and Timmy Young and wife Cindy of Blue Springs; two sisters, Sharon Ables and husband John of Camdenton, Mo., and Margie Pound and husband Neal of Sequim, Wash., along with several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Linda Lambrith. Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 7, at 10 a.m. at the Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Macks Creek. She was born in Tylertown on Feb. 12, 1950, to Jere Thames and Nonnie Nelson Thames. She was a retired dispatcher with Wal-Mart Distribution. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. husband of Connie Pavey ASH GROVE, MO Larry James Mathers, age 63, resident of Ash Grove, Missouri, formerly of Florissant , Missouri, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 25, 1944, in Central Lake, Michigan the son of Harry Mathers and Hazel Murray Mathers. Larry married Connie Pavey on April 18, 1965, in Wichita, Kan. He was retired following 40 plus years as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration. He was a veteran of the Vietnam era serving with the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967. Larry was of the Methodist faith. He loved to cook, fishing and hunting, traveling and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Connie of the home; one son, Chad Mathers, and one daughter Shelley Anderson, both of Columbia, Missouri. Also surviving is a brother, Harold Mathers and wife Susan, Tryon, North Carolina; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, his mother-in-law, Doris Pritchett, Ash Grove, Missouri and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents a stillborn brother, Harvey D. Mathers, and fathers-in-law, Percy Pavey and Earnest Pritchett. The Rev. Jared Witt will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in U.S. National Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 V.F.W.
