I live in North Carolina and I am trying to locate a picture of my great-grandfather, Charles Ephram Elmore.  He died when my grandfather was still a young boy.  Does anyone have a photo of him - in a group or individually?  Please e-mail photo to [email protected] or contact me for postal address, if you wish to mail it.  Your help will be greatly appreciated.

The picture I am looking for is of Charles Ephram Elmore - born 1869 - died 1911.
He lived in Cherryville and
Gastonia, North Carolina.

To whom it may concern:  We live on a farm located in Lenoir County, NC, outside of LaGrange/Moseley Hall Township.  I grew up here.  There is/was a small family cemetery located on the farm that my brother and I used to play in back in the sixties.  Since my family has moved back here, I have tried to find the headstones.  They were in the middle of a pasture surrounded by trees.  Over time, and with no family  of these people to keep it up, the cemetery has basically disappeared.  We have found 3 headstones, but they are not with the graves due to trees pushing them out of the way.

Anyway, two of the three we have found are of 2 girls, Bessie and Essie Elmore, daughters of JH and Hattie Elmore.  Bessie was born Nov. 14, 1883, d. July 27, 1885; Essie was born April 20, 1885, d. August 22, 1887.  My ancestor who bought this land was George Washington Abbott.  He bought it back around 1900 or so.  The other headstone we found was of a Johnny Casey, son of WB and Betsey Casey.  We believe they probably were the ones who owned the farm and Hattie was possibly their daughter.  I have found some info on them, but not on JH Elmore.  The owners of the farm since the early 1900s has been Abbotts of which I am one.

Subject: Burns of 1848

I am seeking a Scottish immigrant named --------- Burns who's wife died in Missouri in 1848 shortly after giving birth to a girl he called Mary H. Burns. b. 28 Oct 1848.    My g-g--ggrandma, Martha Brown Creecy found the infant next to her dead Mother while tending to the sick and dying during an epidemic. The Father was so bereft he gave the baby to my great granny and asked her to take Mary to Oregon with them and raise her as their own.   They did just that, and they never adopted her, but always told her who she was.  I need to find out who Mary's parents were.   Any ideas who this is?
~~~~~~~~~~~~Thanks............
