 A Challenge!

There was a Reuben H. Elmore in the Robertson County, TN, records in the 1830-40s.   His name was written to look like Elmon by census takers.   Some people inverted the "r" in Elmore making it appear as Elmon.   See Reuben H. Elmon in the Census Clips!  See handwriting samples below:  See census taker writing the same way on a different word!  "amt brot forward"

The above samples show how my Grandmother Elmore wrote "Elmore," and how someone else addressed a  postcard to her.    If you look at old wills and deeds, in many cases the "r" is inverted in Elmore, as it is in many word that have an "r" following an "o".   (Could Reuben H. Elmore be Deborah's husband ?")  See land transactions....  (Notice the connection to Peter Hebdin (Hebdon?) see Points to Ponder  for possible Hibdon connection. )
