Elmore Genealogy

Notice!

There is an established
Elmore DNA project .  Elmore DNA has been submitted! Male descendants of the Elmore's - please consider contributing to this DNA project!  It could help us link our Elmore families!

For additional information on this genealogy tool, please look at the below website:
Family Tree DNA

This has been utilized by Elmore descendants.   However, for our obscure Elmore genealogy, we need more DNA from any male descendants with the Elmore surname.

Please consider it!

The DNA test is painless, just 2 swabbings of your cheek, far less expensive than one would image for DNA testing of any sort.  Family Tree DNA has a solid reputation, with surname projects. Their security & privacy are a priority.  Please visit their site and check it out thoroughly.
They will have the answer to any question you may have.   Click here to see what the DNA kit looks like!

Genevieve Chapman Broome Jones wrote a "book" about her genealogical research for her ancestors.  She self published it in mid-1970s.  It featured many families, including an Elmore family.  The Elmore section has been scanned into a pdf file. Her book was entitled, Children Meet Your Ancestors.

They are descendant through Deborah's children and working on genealogy to further our Elmore research.  I appreciate their willingness to share their efforts on this website!
Our Elmore Family was listed in the Camden Co., Missouri, census in 1850.   At that time our Deborah Elmore was living there with two teen-aged sons John A. Elmore and Reuben Harrison Clinton Elmore.
Click here to view a Camden County map.  The Osage Iron Works (sometimes called Iron Town) was in Camden County.   Now it is under the lake, but shows on this map.
Some of the pictures and information used on this site will come from a book compiled by Julia Elmore Travis. The book, A Matter of Pride, The Elmore Family, was published in 1987.
She has some copies available, at her cost of $30.  Click here to contact Julia for a copy of the book.
These libraries & shops have the book.
