Elmore Family Photos

This page is dedicated to the memory of Kathleen Fulford Barnes

These pictures were contributed by her son, Bruce Barnes, a descendant of John Allen Elmore by his 2nd wife, Sarah Jane (Osborn) Elmore.
Taken from a string-bound book of photographs, arranged by Mabel Brook Elmore (b. 1893) with the following dedication.

This picture was labeled: This is my grandmother Elmore - Sarah Jane. She lived with us and died when I was ten years old.	Joseph Henry Elmore (b. 1861) and his sister, Susan Elmore Capps (b. 1863)	Standing is Gordon Elmore, the child is Wilbur Elmore, left is Mary May Vance (wife of Henry Elmore), right is Mary's mother Malissa Esther Cornwell Vance.

The writing on the door says:

TEACHER
1898

A search for this school at the USGS site indicated it was later known
as Hack Ridge School then later Hock Ridge School in Camden Co., MO
on Macks Creek (now abandoned).
Any information on this school would be appreciated!

Joseph Henry Elmore is on the far right.
Legend has it that the little girl in the chair to his right is his daughter,
Mabel Elmore. It was told that Mabel scratched her face from the picture.
Mabel later married Frank Mumford
The chalk board behind her and to Henry Elmore's right says:
