John Reuben Elmore is sitting on a 40's vintage Harley. Those in the know about such things tell me that proof is the "suicide clutch" showing on the left side of the gas tank. Instead of the clutch being on the handlebars like it is now, a Harley clutch in those days was a pedal. When the rider stopped at a stoplight, he had to keep his left foot depressing the clutch pedal and only had one foot to put on the ground to keep himself from falling over. The child on Columbia Anna Brown Elmore's lap is Oniwake (or Anawake) Maxine Elmore, daughter of John and Martha Elmore. She died at 2 1/2 years old. She was born in 1924. Johnny says the car is a Chevrolet, so the car is probably ca. 1924/25.
