(Marilla Ingram Young was the mother of Rev. Young. She lived in Dallas about ten years before her death & was loved for her many charitable deeds. Marilla Street was named for her.)

(The Rev. W. M. C. Young was born in Trigg Co., KY, the son of Daniel & Marilla Ingram Young. He entered the ministry of the Methodist Church , holding pastorates in KY, AR & LA before coming to Dallas. He served as a Missionary Chaplain to the AR Confederate Cavalry. He was married to Mary Pipkin while stationed in AR.
In Dallas, he was actively identified with Methodist organizations for many years. He was District Clerk from 1866-1868. Rev. Young was street commisioner & named Marilla (after his mother), Cadiz & Canton Streets. His home was used as the starting point for many of the city's surveys. Young Street was named for him.)
