Marion M. & Nancy J. Moon
Marion M., 3/18/1830-3/16/1895
Nancy J., 11/24/1833-1/28/1889

(William Marion Moon was born in MO & came to Dallas County with his parents, Jesse & Mary Gilman Moon, in Apr 1845. He served in Capt William Fitzhugh's Company in the Mexican War, 1847-1848, was City Marshall in 1858, City Alderman, 1859 & Sheriff from 1876-1880. He served four years in the Confederate Army as Lt. in Co. H, 3rd TX Cavalry. He was married to Nancy Armstrong Knight on 12/21/1865. His land grant in Peters Colony was about 6 mis. north of Dallas. NOTE: Everything I have seen in reference material researched during this project has referred to Marion Moon as William Marion Moon, but his headstone bears the name Marion M. Moon. I have not researched this further & don't know which name is right or the reason for the discrepancy.)
