(James N. Smith was part donor of the cemetery. He came to Dallas in 1850 to enter business with his brother, John W. Smith, & James M. Patterson. He was married to Malinda Cole Burnham on 12/6/1854. He served as Justice of the Peace from 1856-1860, & as City Alderman from 1858-1862.
