Col. Trezevant Calhoun Hawpe

(T. C. Hawpe was born in GA, but came to Dallas from TN. His land grant from Peters Colony was located near Rylie. He & Electra Ann Bethurum were married in Dallas on 5/31/1848. He was elected Sheriff of Dallas Co. in 1850 & was re-elected in 1852. At the outbreak of the War between the States, he organized the 31st TX Regiment & served as Col. until he was killed on 8/12/1863. Many Dallas County men saw service in the regiment commanded by Col. Hawpe.)
