Gisborne family, fl. Birmingham c. 1839 - 1913.
James Gisborne established the firm. He trained with G. Smith. In 1839 he is listed as a "mil. mus. inst. maker", from 1852, Maker to the Army; 1864, Gisborne & Son,1867 as Henry Charles Gisborne, from 1875 as Gisborne & Son; from 1894 Alfred Hall Gisborne; 1913 Peerless Coy successors.
The firm exhibited keyed bugles in London in 1851.
