William Barrett, his brother Michael, and his sister Bridget arrived in New York harbor on 05 May 1868 aboard the S. S. Louisiana. He married Mary McHugh on 14 Nov 1872 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Scranton. He filed his Petition for US Citizenship in Scranton on 02 Oct 1874. His sponsor was Thomas Saltry. William was a coal miner.

Obituary:
William Barrett, aged 53 years, died last night at his home, 803 West Market Street, from pneumonia. He was born in County Mayo, Ireland, but had lived in North Scranton most of his life. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. E. J. Dean, Mrs. P. H. Nealon, Belinda and Nellie, Thomas, Michael, William, and Anthony: one brother, Michael Barrett, and one sister, Mrs. Peter Moran [Bridget] of Dunmore. Funeral Friday morning.
