Mr. John Carraway Hubbard Obituary "This writer shall miss the smiling face and friendly greetings of his good friend, Mr. J. C. Hubbard. For some weeks Mr. Hubbard has been ill and it was last Saturday, November 25, news reached us that he had answered the final summons. Mr. Hubbard was one of the many settlers in this section who came from Mississippi. He was born at Grenada, Mississippi, on January 9, 1857, and moved to Panola County where he was married to Miss Marguerite La Vina Bell in December 1879. To this union was born 4 sons and one daughter. He moved to Texas in 1889, settling in Angelina County. His wife died two years later. On January 6, 1895 he was married to Miss Tallie Ann Sims and in this union was born seven daughters and two sons. One son and two daughters preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church in Corrigan, where he was a member, Sunday afternoon, Rev. S. E. Harry assisted by Rev. D. Townes Windham officiating. Interment was at the Moffett Cemetery near Lufkin, services at the grave being in charge of the Corrigan Lodge 1003 A.F. & A. M. Thus gives a brief sketch of the life and death of a good citizen and true friend. He will be sadly missed by his multitude of friends and we sincerely sympathize with his family in their sad hour." |
