Hand-drawn envelopes by Voyle Oliver Brunner

Letters to a daughter

Here is an index of images of the envelopes that Voyle Oliver Brunner sent to his daughter, Mary Alice, in 1933 and 1934 while Mary Alice was attending Western Oregon Normal School in Monmouth. Voyle was a telegrapher for the railroad during the Depression, and the artwork on the envelopes indicates when he moved from job to job. (watch for the branch breaking). The return addresses list only Brooks or Marshfield or Timber or Marcola, and the postmarks are R.P.O. - railroad mail.
