Homer J. Perkins


Homer J. (Cy) Perkins, a Seventh-day Adventist Church minister for 40 years, died Wednesday at his Gresham residence. He was 82.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Dempsey Center, with burial in Sunnyside Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside, Wash.

The Rev. Perkins was born in Bona, Mo., and was a veteran of World War I. He served as a missionary in the Far East for 15 years, returning to Portland in 1958 as chaplain of Portland Sanitarium (Adventist Hospital). He retired in 1960.

The Rev. Perkins, who was educated at Links Business College in Idaho and Walla Walla College in Washington, is survived by his wife, Lela M.; daughter, Lotus Rockwell of Sunnyside; son, Curtis L. of Escondido, Calif.; brothers, Tex A. and James C. of Portland; sisters Blanche Tarte of Portland and Jewel Perkins of Bellevue, Wash.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
