Omer R. Perkins


A graveside service for Omer R. Perkins, 71, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Redmond Memorial Cemetery. A Bend resident for 13 years, he died Wednesday at St. Charles Medical Center.

Mr. Perkins had been employed as a crane operator for Weyerhaeuser in Klamath Falls, and also worked for a time for the U.S. Government and the State of Oregon. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps from December, 1927, to November, 1931, and received the Good Conduct medal. He was stationed aboard the USS Pittsburg in the Asiatic.

Mr. Perkins made his home at 64688 Cook Ave. with his wife, Goldie V., who survives. They were married Oct. 1, 1964, in Reno, Nev.

Mr. Perkins was born June 22, 1906, in Kansas City, Mo. He was the son of Charles H. and Lou Griffin Perkins.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Bill Perkins, Spokane, Wash., and two brothers, Eugene T. Perkins and William R. Perkins, both of Portland. There are two grandchildren.

The Rev. D.L. Penhollow of the Powell Butte Christian Church will officiate at the graveside rites. The Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
