Know all men by these presents that I Alexander Cromwell of Sumner County in the Territory south west of the Ohio for and in consideration of the sum of thirty-two pounds lawful money of Northam Carolina to me in hand paid by Joseph Desha the receipt where of I do hereby acknowledge, have bargained sold and delivered and by these presents according to the due form of law, do bargain sell and deliver unto the said Joseph Desha one negro Girl aged between seven and eight years named Rose - To have and to hold the said Negro Girl unto the said Joseph Desha his Executors, administrators and assignees forever and I the said Alexander Cromwell for myself my Executors and Admsts. the said bargained negro Girl unto the said Joseph Desha his Executors Administrators and assignees against all persons shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 1st day of January 1791.
