I Ann Thurmon, of the County of Sumner, a residence thereof being a house keeper and head of a family, do hereby make this my declaration to claim hold and have set a part to me and family a homestead under the provisions of the 2114 Section of the Code of Tennessee this 2nd day of September 1867. Ann (her mark) Thurmon

State of Tennessee, Sumner County - Personally appeared before me John L. Bugg, Clerk of the County Court of said County, Robert Durham and C. H. Harper subscribing to the instrument, who first being sworn, depose and say that they are personally acquainted with Ann Thurmond, the bargainer, and that she acknowledged the execution of the same in their presence to be her act and deed for the purposes therein contained.
