This indenture made and entered unto this 12th day of January AD 1841 between Baley Bayles of the County of Todd & State of Kentucky of the one part and Archibald Gregory of the County of Sumner & State of Tennessee of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Baley Bayles for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred to him in hand paid the receipt whereon hereby acknowledged that granted, bargained, and sold and conveyed unto the said Archibald Gregory fifty acres of land being and lying in the County of Sumner and on the head waters of the Otter Fork of Bledsoe's Creek beginning on a large popular & small white Oak Johnson's South East Corner; thence with Standfield's line South 105 poles to Jackson's line; thence West with said line 76 1/2 poles to a popular; thence North 105 poles to Johnson's line; thence East with said line 76 1/2 poles to the beginning containing by survey fifty acres. To have and to hold the above mentioned tract of land with all it's appurtenances belonging to the said Gregory his heirs and assigns to the only proper use of him the said Gregory his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Bayles doth agree and bind himself, his heirs, and executor to warrant and defend the above tract or parcel of land from all legal claim or claims and from any person or persons to the only proper use of the said Gregory and his heirs to have and to hold forever. State of Tennessee, Sumner County - Personally appeared before me Wm. S. Munday, Clerk of the County Court of said County, Ransom S. Wynn and David ? Johnson, who after being sworn, state that Moses H. Henry one of the subscribing witnesses to the written deed is a non resident of this state, who also state that they are well acquainted with the hand writing of said M. H. Henry having often seen him write and that they verily believe the signature purporting to be his genuine and Jonathan Wiseman having also personally appeared before me and after being sworn states together with the said Ranson S. Wynn that Isaac Wiseman, the other subscribing witness, is dead and also that they are acquainted with the hand writing of the said witness, the said Isaac Wiseman, having often seen him write in his life time and they verily believe the signature purporting to be his is genuine.
