This indenture made and entered into this 24th September 1855 between Joseph T. Black as commissioner of the one part and John Bray of the other part witnesseth that on the 19th Apl 1854 Alexander Harling as guardian for Alexander, Andrew, William and Rebecca Bray infant children of Richard Bray Dec'd filed his petition in the Monroe Circuit Court charging that his said wards were the owners of the following described boundary of land in Monroe County, Kentucky on Line Creek to wit; Beginning on a walnut and ash Thence west 60 poles to a maple, Thence N 60 W 60 poles to two white oaks Thence S 65 W 74 poles to a gum and hickory Thence S 100 poles to a white oak Thence S 24 E 66 poles to three hickories Thence S 40 E 50 poles to an ash on the State

line Thence E with the State line 170 poles to a poplar Thence N 36 poles to a poplar Thence N 12 W 172 poles to the beginning as is understood Two Hundred acres & was devised to said children by Richard Bray dec'd and in said Petition. It is prayed that said land be sold and at April Term of the said court 1854 after the proper steps and proceedings were had upon said petition a decree was pronounced ordering said land to be sold when a credit of Twelve months & appointing said Joseph T. Black commissioner to make the sale who did on the 26th day of August 1854 upon the premises sell said land at public sale when said John Bray became the purchaser at the price of six hundred dollars upon credit of Twelve months and he executed Bond as required and afterwards said Black was appointed by said court to collect and receive the money upon said land who at Septr Court 1855 reported to said court that he had collected on said Bond the full amount of it's principal & Thirty seven dollars & Thirty five cents interest thereon and there upon said Court appointed him commissioner to convey said land to said John Bray. Now in consideration of the premises I the said Black do hereby convey unto the said John Bray the tract of land aforesaid with all it's appurtenances. To have & to hold unto him his heirs & assigns forever. And I do covenant to warrant and defend the title thereof from the claim of all & any person what ever unto him the said John Bray his heirs & etc. forever so far as by decree I am directed & authorized to do. I as Judge of the Monroe Circuit Court certify that I have examined this deed from J. T. Black com. to John Bray & approve of the sum & order to be certified to the proper Court for record Septr 25th 1855. Asher W. Graham
Monroe Circuit Set Septr Term 1855 - I W. A. Cheatham Clerk of the Monroe Circuit do certify that this deed from Joseph T. Black Commissioner & to John Bray was acknowledged was acknowledged before me in open court on the 25th day of September 1855 by the said Black to be his act and deed. Whereupon I have certified the same to the Clerk of the Monroe County Court together with this certificate for Record. Given under my hand as Clerk aforesaid this 5th day of October 1855. Wm. A. Black as Commissioner to John Bray was this day filed in my office for Record whereupon I have recorded the same together with the certificate of acknowledgement therein endorsed in my office. Given under my hand this 5th day of Feby 1855. Att J. C. Conkin, CLK M. C. C.
