Deed of Bargain and Sale - Deed for 139 1/2 acres of land on the Waters of Goose Creek

This Indenture made this seventh day of April One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventeen between Wilson Burges of the County of Carteret and State of North Carolina of the one part, and William Harper of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee of the other part, witnesseth that the said Wilson Burges for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to him in hand received, the receipt where of he the said Burges doth hereby acknowledge, hath and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, alien, in fee of and confirm unto the said William Harper his heirs and assigns, a certain tract of land containing one hundred and twenty nine and a half acres by survey situated lying and being in the County of Sumner on the Waters of the West Fork of Goose Creek and bounded as follows (to wit) Beginning at a buck & linn It being a corner made by Joseph and Benjamin Seawell on said Benjamin Seawell's West boundary line of the tract of land where on he now lives; thence West one hundred and fifty three poles to a stake; thence North one  hundred and thirty five poles to a stake; thence East one hundred and fifty three poles to said Seawell's line; thence South with said line one hundred and thirty five poles to the beginning with all & singular the woods waters possessions commodities and appurtenances whatsoever to the said land belonging. To have and to hold the said one hundred and twenty nine and a half acres with the appurtenances unto the said William Harper his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful title claim or demand of all and every person or persons  whatsoever, shall and will forever warrant and defend the said premises, and the said Wilson Burges for himself his heirs Executors & Administrators do warrant and forever defend the said land with the appurtenances to the said William Harper his heirs and assigns forever. State of Tennessee, Sumner County Court August Term 1817, Deed of Bargain and Sale between Wilson Burges of the one part, and William Harper of the other part for 139 1/2 acres of land was duly proved in open Court by the oaths of Benjamin Seawell and David H. Rickman subscribing witnesses thereto, and ordered to be registered.
