State of Tennessee        For and in consideration of five hundred and thirty
Sumner County              two dollars and 42 cents the receipt of which is hereby
acknowledged We E. J. Johnson Administratrix of the Estate of Wm. Johnson Dec'd and J. D. Johnson and M. D. Rippy heirs of Wm Johnson Dec'd have this day bargained Sold released and do transfer and convey unto Henry McDowell a certain tract or parcel of land Situated lying and being in the 16th Civil District of the aforesaid County and state and bounded as follows:  Beginning at a black gum the S. East corner of lot No. 1 running E 101 poles to a sassafras thence West 181 poles to a stake, the North E. corner to lot No. 1 thence South 105 poles to the Beginning containing one hundred and thirty acres, be same more or less to have and to hold to the said Henry McDowell his heirs and assigns forever.  We covenant with the said Henry McDowell that we are lawfully seized of said land, that it is unencumbered and that the legal title is vested in us, and that we warrant and forever defend the title in said land unto the said Henry McDowell his heirs and personal representatives against the lawful claims of any person whatever.  In testimony of which we set our hands and affix our seals this Sept. 10th A. D. 1883.

Johnson Administratrix of the estate of Wm Johnson Dec'd the bargainor with whom I am personally acquainted and upon oath acknowledged the execution of the annexed deed for the purposes therein contained.  Witness my hand and seal of office Sept. 10th 1883.
