For and in consideration of the sum of one hundred Dollars paid in cash, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, I Eunice Smart (single) have bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey unto The Portland Plaining Mill Co., the following described Lot in Sumner County, State of Tennessee:  situated in the Town of Portland 16th Civil District of aforesaid County & State and being lot No. 5, west addition to Portland as shown by plat of same which is registered in the registers office of Sumner County Tennessee Book 52 page 246, said lot fronts seventy eight (78) ft. on street and runs back between parallel lines one hundred and sixty seven (167) ft. bounded on the East by William Ray (now E. A. Denning) and on the West by H. L. Hobdy (now Mrs. Anderson) to have and to hold the lands with the improvements and appurtenances thereunto belonging to the said Portland Plaining Mill Co. that I am lawfully seized of said land, have a good right to convey it, and that it is unencumbered.
And I do further covenant and bind myself my heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to said property to the said Portland Plaining Mill Co. their heirs and assigns, against the lawful claims of all their heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons.  Witness my hand, this the 19th day of March 1908.

Personally appeared before me William M. Childress, a Notary Public in and for said County and State, the within named Eunice Smart the bargainor, with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledged that she executed the within instrument for the purposes therein contained.
