Deed of Gift

I James P. Garrett of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee have this day bargarined and for the consideration of the love and affection which I bear for my sister Mary Elizer, wife of James B. Elizer, and her present and future body heirs & the further consideration of one dollar to me paid, transferred and conveyed to John W. Garrett one negro named Sarah of copper color aged about seventeen years to have and to hold the said girl to the said John W. Garrett for the use and benefit of the said Mary Elizer's body heirs aforesaid this May 2nd 1844. James P. Garrett. (Seal)

State of Tennessee, Sumner County - Personally appered before me William S. Munday, Clerk of the County Court of said County, James P. Garrett the bargainer with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledged that he made and executed the above Deed of Gift for the purposes therein contained. Witnessed my hand at Office this 2nd day of May 1844. William S. Munday, Clerk

Registered and Examined 2nd May 1844. J. L. Bugg, Regr.

State of Tennessee, Sumner County - I John Bruce Register of said county do hereby cetify that the above & foregoing is a full true and perfect transcript of the Deed of Gift from James P. Garrett to Mary Elizer as the same now appears of record in my office in Bill Book II page 32 this 5th day of June A. D. 1848. J. Bruce, Regr. S. C.
