Bill of Sale

Received of James P. Garrett three hundred and three dollars full pay for a Negro girl named Sarah about seventeen years of age. I warrant the said girl to be sound and sensible and a slave for life, this 2nd of May 1844. Edmund Turner (Seal)

State of Tennessee, Sumner County - Personally appeared before me William S. Munday, Clerk of the County Court of said county, Edmund Turner the bargainer with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledged that he executed the above Bill of Sale for the purposes therein contained. Witnessed my hand at office this 2nd day of May 1844. Wm. S. Munday, Clerk

State of Tennessee, Sumner County - I John L. Bugg, Register of said county do certify that the above is duly registered & examined at my office in Book II page 30 this 3rd May 1844, John L. Bugg, Regr.
