We have this day and date bargained sold and do hereby transfer and convey to S. T. Thurmond for and in consideration of one hundred & four dollars to us in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the following tract of land lying on waters of East Fork of Bledsoe Creek and in Sumner County, Tennessee, District No. 11 and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a rock near a beech running thence South 8 degrees North 60 poles to an Elm; thence South 27 degrees West 32 72/100 poles a stake at fence in Oglesby line; thence East 7 poles to a stake in Caruthers line; thence North 92 poles to a stake; thence East 22 poles to a stake in Caruthers near the gate; thence North 23 poles to a stake near a beech; thence North 88 degrees West 24 poles to the beginning containing 13 acres, be the same more or less. To have and to hold to the said S. T. Thurmond and his heirs, the above described tract of land with all its appurtenances forever. We covenant with said S. T. Thurmond that we are lawfully possessed of said tract of land & have a good right to convey and further that said tract of land is unencumbered. We bind ourselves, heirs and representatives to warrant and defend the right and title of said land against the legal claims of all persons whatever. Witness our hands & seals this August 27th 1887. State of Tennessee, Sumner County - Personally appeared before me Harris Brown, Clerk of the County Court of said County, the within named G. B. Thurman & wife Harriett C. Thurman bargainors, with whom I am personally acquainted, and acknowledged that they executed the within written instrument for the purposes therein expressed. And Harriett C. Thurman, wife of the said G. B. Thurman, having personally appeared before me, private and apart from her husband, the said Harriett C. Thurman acknowledged the execution of the said deed to have been done by her freely, voluntarily, and signed accordingly, without compulsion or constraint from her said husband, and for the purposes therein contained.
