State of North Carolina } Know all men by these presents
Richmond County } that
I George Northam for and in consideration
of the love and affection that I bear towards my son John T. Northam do give
and bequeath one certain tract of Land lying and being in the County and
State aforesaid. Beginning at a stake on the East side of Steelees Branch
a corner Mornin Robinsons' line, and running Eastward to the Posimmmon
Branch, then down Sd. Branch to Hitchcock Creek, thence up the various
courses of sd., Creek to the Cowford thence corners on a White oak. then
by a course of marked trees westward with Wm. H. Covington's line to said
Cow branch, thence down Sd. branch Southward to a small branch running
into said Cow branch on the West side of Sd branch, then up said small
Branch to an old Spring and cornering on a lving dogwood. then West, direct
to the head of a small branch near the Guilford road running Westwart to
sd Steelees Branch and down sd branch to a bluff near? a mill site
and rock quarry. thence by a course of marked trees to another small branch
then down sd branch to sd Steeles Branch, thence down sd branch to the Beginning.
Containing three hundred acres more or less, which land I warrant and defend
and do hereby warrant and forever defend to John T. Northam his Heiglons
and assigns forever,
In witness I hereunto set my hand and seal this 7th day of May 1855.

Then the foregoing and within deed from George Northam to John T. Northam was acknowledged before me by the said George Northam---therefore -- Let it be registered.
