I J. H. Hughes have this day bargained and sold for the consideration of three hundred dollars to me paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged to Miss Mary Ann Hughes, three undivided shares in 2 tracts of land formerly owned by Samuel H. Hughes dec'd, to wit: My own share, W. H. Hughes share and Sarah E. Hadly share, lying in District No. 14th of Sumner County, State of Tennessee, first tract of ninety acres bounded as follows, beginning on a black oak South West corner of J. W. Simpson tract and the South of the John Robertson tract running West 166 poles to a rock in the Gallatin Road; thence South with said road 87 poles to a stake, with chestnut hickory & dogwood pointers; thence East 166 poles to a double black oak; thence North 87 poles to the beginning. Tract No. 2  bounded as follows: Beginning on a Hickory supposed to be Margaret Campbells corner, running due North 74 poles to a Red Oak in the Colen Campbell line, and with said line 48 poles West to a Black Oak Campbells corner; thence South 87 poles to a Black Oak Robertsons corner; thence West 38 poles to a Dogwood in the Wm. Clory line; thence South 60 poles to a Chestnut Stump & Sprout in the Clory line; thence East 80 poles to trees marked as pointers; thence East 75 poles to beginning. I covenant with the said Mary A. Hughes that I am lawfully seized of said land and have a good right to convey it. I further bind myself my heirs & representatives to warrant & defend the title to said lands against the lawful claims of persons whatever forever. This the 10th day of March 1888. J. H. Hughes

State of Tennessee, Sumner County - Personally appeared  before me Harris Brown, Clerk of County Court of said county, the within named J. H. Hughes the bargainor, with whom I am personally

acquainted, and who acknowledged that he executed the within instrument for the purposes therein contained. Witness my hand at office this 27th day of March 1888. Harris Brown, Clerk of said Court
