This indenture made the twenty second day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty between James Garrett of the county of Sumner and State of Tennessee of the one part, and Sarah commonly called Sarah Garrett of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee of the other part. Witnesseth that the said James Garrett for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand paid by the said Sarah Garrett the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained aliened conveyed and confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto the said Sarah her heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Sumner aforesaid on Drakes Creek of Cumberland River. Beginning at a beech corner to Daniel Montgomery on the old presumption line thence North with said line sixty poles to white oak, old corner to Catron, thence East with old line twenty two poles to an oak and sugar tree old corner in Catron North boundary line thence North with the old presumption line of which there is a part seventy six poles to a stake. North East corner of the presumption thence West with the old line up a branch of the Creek and old public road in all two hundred and eighty poles to the creek. Thence down the creek with its different meanders to Daniel Montgomery corner at a stake and pointer on the west bank of the creek, thence down the creek with said Daniel's line South forty degrees East twenty two poles to a stake on the east bank of the creek near the mouth of a small branch, thence North seventy one degrees East with said Daniel's line forty eight poles to the Beginning. Containing by estimation one hundred and eighty acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid land with all and singular the rights profits emolumnets hereditaments and appurtenances of and in to the same belonging or in any way appertaining to the only proper use and behalf of her the said Sarah her heirs and assigns forever. And said James Garrett for himself and for his heirs Execs. and Admrs. doth consent and agree to and with the said Sarah her heirs and assigns that the before recited land and bargained premises they will warrant and forever defend against the right title interest or claim of all and every person whatsoever.
