This indenture made this ninth day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty between Jesse Garrett of the one part and Francis Earl of the other part, both of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of Five hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said Francis Earl the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said Jesse Garrett have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Francis Earl his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Sumner and State aforesaid on the waters of Drakes Creek and Bounded as follows, Beginning at a Stake in Garrett's line running South eighty one poles to a white oak and hickory in Murphy's original line, thence West 129 poles to a hackberry in Mary Buckners line, thence North 75 poles to an elm and hickory of J. Garrett's Corner in Jno. Savely's line thence East 148 poles to the Beginning containing in all sixty acres more or less.
To have and to hold to the said Francis Earl together with the appurtenances to him his heirs and assigns and to their sole use forever and the said Jesse Garrett for himself his heirs etc. the said tract of land with all its appurtenances unto the said Francis Earl his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend against himself his heirs and assigns the right title claim and interest of all and every other person or persons whatever.

In witness whereof the said Jesse Garrett have hereunto set his hand and affixed his Seal this day and date above written.

State of Tennessee  Sumner County  November Term 1830  Deed of bargain and Sale from Jesse Garrett to Francis Earl for sixty acres of land was duly present in Open Court by the oath of S. G. Dunn and Henry Booth the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be registered.
