This indenture made this twenty six of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty five Between Wm. Smith & John Northam Both of Richmond County Platetrd? Witnesseth that the sd. John Northam for and in consideration of the some of two hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by the aforesaid Wm. Smith the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and himself fully satisfied and content hath bargained and sold unto the aforesaid Wm. Smith a tract of land containing one hundred and seventy-five acres beginning at a stake four pines pointers and runs N 50 W 280 poles to a corner then 40 E 100 poles to a corner then S 50 E 280 poles to a corner then S 40 W 100 poles home containing 175 acres patented by Duncan McKay as may appear of Record with the exception of what has been sold to George Northam and willed to Powell Northam to have & to hold to the aforesaid Wm. Smith his heirs and assigns forever every part & parcel of the bargained Land and premises to his proper use and behalf Except the aforesaid exceptions and further the said John Northam will forever warrant the Balance of the 175 acres of Land from himself, his heirs and all other persons forever.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 26 Jan 1825.
