This Indenture made and entered into the 28th day of december 1858, by and between John T. Northam of the County of Richmond and State of North Carolina of the one part and George W. Northam of the same county, and State aforesaid Witnesseth that the said John T. Northam for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred Ninety dollars to him in hand paid the rect of which is hereby acknowledged hath bargained, granted, sold, aliened, enfeoffed? and conveyed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell alien and convey unto the aforesaid George W. Northam his heirs and assigns forever a certain piece or parcel of land, lying and being in said County of Richmond on the north side of Hitchcock Creek. Beginning at a stooping red oak with white oak pointers on said creek Wm. H. Covingtons corner and runs with said Covingtons line No 77 West 132 poles to the persimmon branch, then down said branch to the mouth, then up said Hitchcock Creek to the beginning containing forty six acres more or less, To have and to hold to the said George W. Northam his heirs and assigns forever, and the said John T. Northam will warrant and defend the aforesaid described lands with the appurtenances, mines, minerals and everything appertaining, unto the said George W. Northam his heirs & assigns forever. In witness of which the said John T. Northam hath hereunto set his hand and seal, this 28th day of Decr, 1858.
