This Indenture made this 30th day of December 1797 in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven Between MtGumry McConnell of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee of the one part and James Graham of said County and State of the other part. Witnesseth that the said MtGumery McConnell for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and forty Dollars to him in hand paid by said James Graham the Receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath given granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain and sell unto the said James Graham a Certain tract or parcel of land, lying and being in the County and State aforesaid on the waters of Goose Creek being part of a tract of land originally granted to William Sanders by letters patent bearing date the twelfth of November in the twentieth year of our Independence and in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five (viz.) Beginning as follows at an ash on the south Boundary of said Tract runs west ninety poles to a beach and sugar tree thence north two hundred and fifty poles to a sugar tree thence East ninety poles to a sugar tree and beach thence South to the Beginning Containing one hundred and forty acres be the same more or less together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging To Have and to hold the afore granted land and premises to the said James Graham his heirs and assigns forever and the said MtGumery McConnell doth Covenant and agree to and with the said James Graham his heirs Executors administrators and assigns for himself his heirs Executors and administrators to warrant and defend the aforesaid Granted land and premises against the Claim of all persons whatsoever. In Witness whereof the said MtGumery McConnell hath set his and affixed his seal the day and year first above written.
