We Wm. A. McCullough & Lula McCullough and Mary Ann Hughes have this day bargained and sold for the consideration of $200.00 two hundred dollars in hand to us paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged to J. H. Hughes our undivided interest in 140 acres of land in two tracts formerly owned by Samuel H. Hughes dec'd being 2/5 of said land being in Sumner County State of Tennessee, and District No. 14, and bounded as follows, to wit: Tract No. 1 beginning on a Black Oak S. W. corner of J. W. Simpson tract and the S. E. corner of J. B. Robertson tract running West 166 poles to a rock in the Gallatin & Scottsville Road; thence with said road 87 poles to a stake with Chestnut Hickory and Dogwood pointers; thence East 166 poles to double Black Oak; thence North 87 poles to the beginning. Tract No. 2 bounded as follows: Beginning on Hickory supposed to be Margaret Campbells corner running due North 74 poles to Red Oak in Colin Campbells line, with said line 48 poles to Black Oak Campbells corner; thence South 87 poles to Black Oak Robertsons corner; thence 38 poles to Dogwood in the original Clory survey; thence South 60 poles to Chestnut & sprout in Clory survey; thence East 80 poles to trees marked as pointers; thence North 75 poles to the beginning. To have and to hold to said J. H. Hughes his heirs and assigns forever. We covenant with the said J. H. Hughes that we are lawfully seized of said land and have a good right to convey it and the same is unencumbered. We further bind ourselves, our heirs, representatives to warrant and defend the title to said lands to said J. H. Hughes and his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whatever. This 14th day of December 1889.

& Mary A. Hughes the bargainors, with whom I am personally acquainted, and acknowledged  that they executed the within instrument for the purposes therein expressed. And Lula McCullough wife of the said Wm. A. McCullough having personally appeared before me privately and apart from her husband, the said Lula. McCullough acknowledged the execution of the said Deed to have been done by her freely, voluntarily, and understandingly, without compulsion or constraint from her said husband, and for the purposes therein contained.
