To all to whom these presents shall come greeting know ye that by virtue of part of certificate No. 628 dated the 19th of July 1811 issued by register of West Tennessee to Joshua Hadly and entered on the 19th day May 1817 by No. 18765 - There is granted by the said State of Tennessee unto John McMurtry assignee of the said Joshua Hadly a certain tract or parcel of land containing thirty one Acres by survey bearing date the 20th May 1817 lying in Sumner County in the first District on the waters of Drakes Creek of Cumberland River and bounded as follows to wit:  Beginning at a beech and white walnut north west corner to said McMurtrys thirty acre tract, running South with said line forty poles to a beech thence west forty poles to a sugar tree thence north 81 poles to a Beech thence East eighty one poles to a beech and dogwood thence south forty one poles to a sugar and hackberry in the north line of said McMurtrees thirty acre tract thence west with said line forty one poles to the Beginning with the hereditaments and appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said John Mcmurtry and

his heirs forever.  In witness whereof Joseph McMinns Governor of the state of Tennessee hath hereunto set his hand and caused the great seal of the State to be affixed at Knoxville on the Fourteenth day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and Seventeen and of the Independence of the United States the forty Second By the Governor Jos. McMinns.
