Know all men by these presents that I John Perry of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee for and in consideration of the natural love and affection I have and bear for my grand children (viz) John Perry, Thomas J. Perry, Mary Elizabeth Perry and Alzira Malinda Perry lawful heirs of the body of my son Josiah Perry and all the lawful heirs that my son Josiah Perry may have and for the better support and maintainance of the same, I have this day given granted and delivered unto the said John, Thomas J., Mary Elizabeth and Alzira Malinda and the other lawful heirs that my son Josiah may have the following negroes (viz) Philip a man about forty three years of age, Nancy a woman about twenty four years old, Rose a girl about thirteen years old, Alsey a girl about eleven years old and Minerva a girl about six years old. To have and to hold theirs and their heirs forever from me and my heirs and from all person or persons whatsoever lawfully claimant therein. Witness whereof I the said John Perry have this day set my hand and affixed my seal and delivered in presence of us the 13th day of October 1830. John Perry (Seal)

State of Tennessee, Sumner County Court Nov Term 1830 - Deed of Gift from John Perry, Thomas J. Perry, Mary Elizabeth Perry and Alzira Malinda Perry heirs of Josiah Perry for five negroe Philip, Nancy, Alsey, Rose and Minerva was duly proved in open court by the oath of John P. Hogan & C. B. Perry the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be certified.
