Sumner County, Tennessee, Deed Book 24, pages 170 and 171

John PERRY to Robert TUTTLE

This indenture made in the year of our Lord one thousand eighteen hundred and fifty two between John PERRY of the one part and Robert TUTTLE of the other part, both of the county of Sumner and State of Tennessee, witnesseth that for and in consideration of one hundred and ten dollars to me the said John PERRY paid by the said Robert TUTTLE the receipt is hereby acknowledged there this day bargained and sold and do by these bargain, sell, and convey unto the said Robert TUTTLE, his heirs and assignees forever a certain tract or parcel of land on which he now lives on, the waters of Drakes Creek of Barren River in District No. 15 and bounded as follows, to wit; Beginning on a chestnut, the north east corner of the hundred acre tract that I now live on; thence running west one hundred and fifty four poles to a dogwood; thence south sixty five poles to a sourwood and chestnut; thence east one hundred and fifty four poles to a blackgum on the east boundary line of the said hundred acres tract; thence north sixty five poles to the beginning by estimation fifty one acres to the same more or less, to have and to hold the title to him, the said Robert TUTTLE, his heirs and assignees forever from the said John PERRY, his heirs and executors, administrators and assignees forever, and I the said John PERRY do bind myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and forever to warrant and defend the title to said land against any lawful claim of any person or persons whatsoever in witness whereof I have unto set my hand sent this day and date also written April 3rd.

Personally appeared before me, John L. BUGG, clerk of the county court, of said county, Robert DORRIS and John PERRY subscribing witnesses to the forgoing deed who being first sworn depose and say that they are personally acquainted with John PERRY the bargainor and that he acknowledges the executing of the same in their presence to be his act and deed upon the day it bears date and for the purposes therein contained witness my hand at office the 27th August 1858
