Rountree Perry & Others to William Benson, 5 Feby 1844
This Indenture made and entered into this the twenty seventh day of December in year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty three, between Rountree Perry & Nancy his Wife late Nancy Benson, William Spiller & Winneford his Wife late Winneford Benson & Elizabeth Spiller widow & relect of Benjamin Spiller Dec'd & late Elizabeth Benson, of the County of Williamson & State of Illinois of the one part, and William Benson of the County & State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Perry & wife, Spiller & wife & Elizabeth Spiller heir & legal Representatives of William Benson Senior deceased, hath for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars to them in hand paid by the said William Bension, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, and sold, and doth by these presents give, grant, bargain and sell unto the said William Benson his heirs or assignees all their right title claim and interest, to their undivided moiety in a certain tract of land where William Benson Senior, deceased late lived, and where he departed this life lying and being in Robertson County, State of Tennessee, Beginning at Melchen Ayler's corner, Running East one hundred and ten poles John Talton Harris said corner, thence North one hundred and sixty poles to said Harris corner, thence East one hundred poles with his line. thence one hundred and sixty poles to a stake, thence West one hundred & ten poles Ayler's corner, thence with said line three hundred and twenty poles to the beginning, being part of a tract of 640 acres granted by the State of North Carolina to Thomas Johnson, granted the 20th day of May 1793 No. 2314 Containing three hundred and twenty acres together with two acres which said William Benson Sr. purchased of Lewis Pipkin part of the said original survey with the exception of one hundred acres sold said William Benson Sr. in his lifetime to William Benson Jr., both lying on the North & North East side of said tract of land, the undivided moiety of said land with all and singular the premises above mentioned and every part & parcel thereof unto the said William Benson his heirs or assigns forever and the said Rountree Perry & Nancy his wife and the said William Spiller Senr. & Winneford his wife and Elizabeth Spiller heirs & legal Representatives of William Benson Senr. dec'd doth hereby covenant and agree to and with the said William Benson and his heirs or assigns to warrant and forever defend the said undivided moiety of land to extent of their undivided right claim and interest in the same (each) grantor hereby relinquishing all their said interest claim and demand to said described land to him said Benson & his heirs or assigns forever free from all other claims or manner of claims whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said Perry & wife Spiller & wife & Elizabeth Spiller hath hereunto set their hands & affixed their seals the day & date aforesaid.

Before the undersigned an acting Justice of the peace in and for said County
personally appeared Rountree Perry & Nancy Perry, his wife, late Nancy
Benson, & William Spiller & Winneford Spiller his wife late Winneford
Benson, Elizabeth Spiller widow of Benjamin Spiller dec'd and late Elizabeth
Benson, and them all well known to be the identical persons whose names appeared
the foregoing deed of Conveyance, from them to William Benson and the said
Rountree Perry & Nancy his wife late Nancy Benson & William Spiller
and Wenniford his wife late Wenniford Benson, and Elizabeth Spiller widow
Benjamin Spiller & late Elizabeth Benson & been examined by me separate and apart from their said husbands, acknowledged, that they assigned the
same of their own free wills and deed, without the compulsion of their said
husbands, taken & acknowledged before me, this the 28 day of December

I Anderson P. Corder clerk of the County Commissioner's Court in and for
said County & State do hereby certify that William T. Turner, whose name
appears to the within acknowledgement of a deed of conveyance to William
Benson is and was at the time the same was taken, an acting magistrate, regularly
qualified & commissioned for said County, and as such full faith is and
of right ought to be given to all his official act. In witness whereof I
have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my private seal (LS) there being
no public seal procured, done at office in Marion this 12th January 1844
