The indenture made and entered into this the 23 day of March in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twenty four between Samuel Roney of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee of the one part & Richard Moore and Dudley E. McKendree of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Samuel Roney for and in consideration of the sum of forty dollars to him in hand paid by the said Richard Moore and Dudley E. McKendree at and before the sealing and delivering of their presents the receipt whereof to hereby acknowledge and confirm have bargained and sold unto the said Richard Moore and Dudley E. McKendree and their heirs A certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in Sumner County State of Tennessee and on the head of a western branch of the west fork of Drakes Creek of Barren River Beginning at a elum Henry Beason Corner thence west thirty eight poles to Red bud thence south forty two poles to an elum thence thirty eight poles to a water oak thence north forty two poles to the Beginning ten acres to have and to hold the above described land and premises with all its appurtenances there unto belonging to them the said Richard Moore and Dudley E. McKendree their heirs and assigns forever and the said Samuel Roney do hereby bind himself his heirs Exrs. Admr. & to make good and defend the title of said land to them the said Richard Moore and Dudley E. McKendree and their heirs & forever clear of the just claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever. In Witness whereof the said Samuel Roney had her unto set his hand and seal the day and date first above written signed dated and delivered in presence of

This deed of bargain & sale from Samuel Roney to Richard Moore & Dudley E. McKendree for ten acres of land was proved to open Court by the oaths of John Groves & Jacob Beason subscribing witnesses ____ & ordered to be registered.
