This Indenture made this twelfth day of June the year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety six between William Sanders of the County of Caswell and State of North Carolina of the one part and Mountgomery McConell of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee of the other part. Witnesseth that the said William Sanders for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred and forty Dollars to him in Hand paid by the said Mountgomery McConell hath given granted bargained and sold by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Mountgomery McConell a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the State of Tennessee and County of Sumner upon the waters of Goose Creek being at tract of land originally granted by letters patent baring date the 12th of November in the twentieth year of our Independence and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety-four (viz) running as follows: beginning at a cluster of lynns in Thomas Donohoes west boundary line thence west four hundred and nine poles to a beech north two hundred and fifty poles to a stake East four hundred and nine poles to a sugar tree in Charles Dixons south boundary and corner to said Donohoe South with his line across a branch to the beginning. containing in the [w]Hole six hundred and forty acres be the same more or less together with all and singular the appurtenances to the same or in anywise belonging To Have and to Hold the aforesaid ____ the land and premises unto the said Mountgomery McConell his heirs and assigns forever. And the said William Sanders doth covenant and agree to and with said Mountgomery McConell his heirs executors administrators and assigns for himself his heirs executors administrators to warrant and forever defend the aforesaid granted land and premises against the claim of all persons whatsoever. In Witness whereof the said William Sanders hath set his hand and affairs his seal the day and year above written.
