This Indenture made this 10th day of June 1827 between Wm. P. Smith of the county of Richmond & State of North Carolina of the One part & George Northam of the Same County & State aforesaid, cetifeith? that the said Wm. P. Smith for & in consideration of the sum of  Ten Dollars & in further consideration of an understanding which was entered into

between the Parties when they purchased the land of old Mrs. Northam & Powel Northam, which this conveyance is now intended to conform to, have bargained and sold; and by These presents doth grant, bargain, sell, enfeoff? & convey to The aforesd George Northam, his Heirs & assigns forever, all the Land lying on the West Side of Stealy's Branch which was Willd by Geo Northam Senr to Powell Northam, and also all the land lying on the No Side of a little branch which runs into the Stealy branch a little below Elias Gardener's Spring all of which land was Willd by said George Northam to his son Powell Northam & was conveyed by Powell Northam to Wm P Smith by a Power of Attorney executed to John Massey of Logan County, Kentucky, which said Land I convey and warrant from myself & my Heirs but not from any other persons. In witness of which I have here placed my hand & seal
