Know all men by these presents that we James C. Welch & Zeriah Welch of the State of California & County of Yolo for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand fifty one dollars in hand paid to our legal agent Charles B. Welch of the same County and State we have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to John Bray of the County of Monroe and State of Kentucky all the right title claim and interest we now have or may hereafter have in and to the following tract or parcel of land lying and being on Line Creek in the County of Monroe in the State of Kentucky and bounded as follows to wit.....

Beginning on a large forked white oak on the State line and corner Jacob Goad formerly corner Sam Thomas Thence S 12 E 118 poles to a stake in John Deckards line. Thence S 63 E 30 poles to a stake in the same. Thence N 15 E 12 poles to a willow then N 40 E 16 poles to a poplar and hickory. Thence S 82 E 58 poles to a stake in John Bray's line. Thence S 24 E 66 poles to 3 hickories Thence S 40 E 50 poles to an ash on the State line corner to John Bray. Thence west with the State line to the beginning containing Ninety five acres be the same more or less the said J. C. & Zeriah Welch carry Ten shares out of Eleven there being Eleven heirs and we owning Ten of their shares and we the said James C. & Zeriah Welch do hereby agree to bind ourselves and representatives to forever warrant and defend the title of the same to the said Bray his heirs and assigns. In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 17th day of April 1857.

State of California, Yolo County - I Arch McDonald clerk of the County Court of said County do certify that this Instrument of writing from James C. Welch and wife Zeriah Welch was this day produced to me by the parties

which was acknowledged by the said James C. Welch to be his act and deed and the contents and effect of the instrument being explained to the said Zerah Welch by me separate and apart from her said husband. She thereupon declared that she did freely and voluntarily execute the same to be her act and deed and consented that the same might be admitted to record. Given under my hand and the seal of my office as clerk of the County Court of Yolo County, California at office on this 17th day of April AD 1857.

State of Kentucky, County of Monroe - Set - I J. C. Conkin Clerk of Monroe County Court certify this deed from James C. Welch & Zeriah Welch his wife to John Bray was this day filed in my office for record, whereupon I have recorded the same together with the certificate of acknowledgement therein endorsed. Given under my hand this 25th day of May 1857.

Welch & wife to John Bray was this day filed in my office for Record 2nd time, whereupon I have recorded the same together with the certificates therein endorsed in my office.
