This Indenture made this twenty seventh day of Sept One Thousand eight hundred and eighteen, between William McKendree of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee of the one part & Elisha Barnard of the County & State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred Dollars to me in hand paid by the said Elisha Barnard the receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold and by these presence bargain sell release and convey unto Elisha Barnard a piece of land containing one hundred acres cituate lying and being in the county in the county of S. on the east side of Drake Creek of big Barren. Beginning on a hickory & Elm said Barnards South west corner thence running east sixty pol. to small hickry <sic> Jesse Skeens west boundary line thence north with said line 76 pol. to a post oak then east with Skeens N boundary line 27 pol. to a stake thence north with Skeens 80 acre survey 124 ½ pol. to a Spanish Oak thence west 90 pol. to D. Barnard east boundary line thence south with this line & E. Barnards 201 ½ pol. to the Beginning to have & to hold the said piece of land with all it's appurtenances from him the said William McKendree his heirs & assigns unto the W. Elisha Barnard his heirs & assigns forever & he the said William McKendree doth warrant & defend the right title & interest of the piece of land with all the here adamants? & appurtenances there unto belonging from himselve his heirs and assigns & all person whatsoever unto the said Elisha Barnard his heirs & assigns forever. In witness where of I have here unto set my hand & seal this day & year above written in presence of us.

The deed of bargain & sale between William McKendree of the one part & Elisha Barnard of the other part for 100 acres of land was duly proved in open Court by the oath of John Best & James Gwin Subscribing witnesses thereto & ordered to be registered.
